POLL: Should Facebook and Twitter be Regulated as Utilities?
A debate regarding the Social Media Giants’ practices due to what seems like the regular de-platforming and banning of center-right and rightwing content. The practice of “shadow banning” and the process of downgrading content base on content that is not left-wing is a fairly regular occurrence on Twitter and Facebook.
Many claims that, because the social media companies are privately held, they are free to do whatever they please. Many others believe that due to the scope and control over the communication of millions of individuals, the social media giants should not be free to regulate content however they see fit.
