On our regular review show we look at what has been making news back in Australia and around the world. To do that we are joined again by Unshackled Contributor Jacob Watts.

Survey forms for the same sex marriage plebiscite are now arriving in mailboxes throughout Australia. We discuss the government passing emergency vilification laws to be in force throughout the plebiscite and the impact this will have on free speech. We also comment on the corporations ratcheting up their campaigning with Coke having special cans and subway receipts saying vote yes to name a few examples. There have also been the attacks on traditional marriage supporters such as Margaret Court and Israel Folau.

Our leaders are still trying to solve the nation’s energy crises with the Turnbull Government trying to keep the Liddell coal fired power station in the Hunter region open past 2022. We comment that Bill Shorten actually offered a not bad solution with allowing more conventional gas exploration and we also discuss whether fracking should be looked at.

Hillary Clinton has made an unwelcome return to public life to promote her new book What Happened which is her explanation about why she lost the election. No surprise she blames everyone else but herself, she blames Bernie Sanders, the Russians, James Comey and even the mainstream media. We comment how she doesn’t think her unsecured email server was a big deal and excludes discussing the Wikileaks emails which exposed how corrupt the Clinton Foundation was.

The crises in Myanmar involving the conflict between the Buddhist majority and the Rohingya Muslim minority has been a major international development. 300,000 Rohingya’s have fled into neighboring Bangladesh. The Greens want Australia to accept 20,000 Rohingya refugees but the last thing we need is more Muslim refugees. We comment that there are other ways that Australia can secure peace and safety in the region.
