Last month Greens Senator for NSW Mehreen Faruqi spoke at a public protest against Mark Latham organised by Socialist Alternative, a group that wants to violently overthrow the government and implement a totalitarian socialist state.

And the media completely ignored it. To be fair to them this was just before the Federal election so they were probably busy off chasing down One Nation candidates trying to find out if they once said something naughty on Myspace in 2005. They were so busy doing all that “investigating” they probably didn’t have time to notice that a Senator from the third largest party in Australia was endorsing, attending and speaking at an event run by violent Marxist extremists.

For those unaware Socialist Alternative is the largest, best organised, and in recent years best-resourced political extremist group in Australia today. They openly call for the division of Australia into rival groups and the stirring up of a civil war leading to a revolution that they believe will bring them to power. Once attaining this power they plan to implement a totalitarian Marxist state where freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of association, freedom to belong to a non-government political party and the freedom to own property will all be abolished. They also intend to abolish the flag, the constitution, the parliaments, the defence force, the police, the judiciary, the concept of gender, our nation’s borders and the idea of the nation of Australia itself.

You might say they are ever so slightly extreme.

Yet Senator Mehreen Faruqi was happy to associate herself with them at a protest they organised to oppose the “extremism” of One Nation NSW leader Mark Latham who at that time had just been elected to the NSW upper house.

For the record, in case it needs clearing up, to the best of my knowledge Mark Latham does not advocate for the violent overthrow of the Australian government. Unlike the people Senator Faruqi was protesting with.

Ignorance is no excuse here. Senator Faruqi was speaking in front of a giant sign that said “Socialist Alternative” on it and was speaking alongside well-known Socialist Alternative organiser Hersha Kadkol. The idea that she didn’t know who she was endorsing by her presence is laughable.

Hersha Kadkol is a Socialist Alternative activist and has been one since at least 2016. She is originally from the Western Victorian town of Horsham having graduated from Horsham College in 2011 before moving to Melbourne to study and later moving to Sydney (mainly) for far left activism.

In June last year Kadkol organised protests outside the ABC against a discussion of the proposed Western Civilisation course to be funded by the Ramsey centre. In August last year she led a protest against Peter Dutton, describing him as a “right-wing bigot” who tortures refugees and “dog whistles” to white supremacists. In September last year she was a featured speaker at the Socialist Alternative Sydney conference.

In January this year she led a protest outside Channel 10 calling for the sacking of Kerry Anne Kennelly for criticising the “Invasion Day” marches proclaiming that: “people like Kerri-Anne Kennerley should not be able to say comments like this”. In Febuary of this year Kadkol organised the Australia wide Socialist Alternative led protests against the visit of Professor Jordan Peterson. Kadkol has also been at the forefront of the Socialist Alternative led campaign resisting “Trimesters” replacing semesters at UNSW despite the notable handicaps of a) not to the best of our knowledge actually being a student at UNSW and b) the issue not really relating to her elected Student Union role as the NUS “Ethno-cultural officer”.

Greens Senator Mehreen Faruqi spoke at this anti Israel rally alongside Marxist activist and Socialist Alternative organiser Hersha Kadkol.

There is no point in Faruqi pretending not to know who Kadkol was. They both were speakers a month before this event during an anti-Israel protest outside the Opera House. Senator Faruqi also spoke alongside Ms Kadkol at a Socialist Alternative organised event protesting the Ramsey centre at the University of Sydney in late October last year.

That Ms Kadkol is a Marxist and an organiser with Australia’s largest Marxist group is common knowlege in the activist communities of at least two states, one of which Ms Faruqi represents in parliament.

As has already been pointed out by The Unshackled the Greens have form when it comes to hob knobbing with Marxist crazies. David Shoebridge and Lee Rhiannon have repeatedly attended Marxist events in Sydney including the “Keep Left” conference organised by the Trotskyist group Solidarity and Victorian Greens leader Samantha Ratnam managed to attend and speak at two separate Melbourne events organised by Socialist Alternative in consecutive weeks.

So where is the media when senior Greens politicians openly associate with and support the most radical violent extremists in our society? Where are the stories, the forced disavowals, the media press mobs, the sneering posts on Twitter?

I think we all know the answer by now.
