This is the third last show of Trad Tasman Talk with the grand finale show on December 2 with Tim, Dieuwe, Stephen and Origen.

With another covid wave underway in Australia driven by the grandchildren and cousins of Omicron the mask zealots are again pushing for mask mandates. New York-based Australian doctors Benjamin Veness and Lucky Tran have claimed masking stops racism and anti-masking is part of white supremacy respectively.

ABC covid commentator Norman Swan has apologized for suggesting Shane Warne and Kimberely Kimberely Kitching who both died of heart attacks in March this year at age 52 died of covid complications. Novak Djokovic will be allowed to play in the 2023 Australian Open after his three-year visa ban was overturned by new Immigration Minister Andrew Giles.

It is 8 days until the Victorian state election day on November 26 with the past week not the best for Premier Dan Andrews. The Cult of Daniel Andrews documentary by Peta Credlin aired on Sky News on Wednesday focusing on the fact that all aspects of the Victorian Government are centered around protecting and promoting Dan.

The Sluggate episode of Under Investigation with Liz Hayes aired on Channel 9 on Monday. It focused on the closure of iCook Foods by Victorian CHO Brett Sutton in 2019. The company was falsely accused of killing a woman with a sandwich, a slug was found on their premises by a City of Greater Dandenong Health Inspector and looked like it was planted there. iCook founder Ian Cook running against Dan Andrews in Mulgrave as an Independent.

Angry Victorians Party founders Chris Burson and Heston Russell filmed their Zoom call with preference whisper Glenn Durery who has worked with and for minor parties for over 20 years to get them elected with group voting tickets with small primary votes. Victoria is the last state which allows parties contesting the upper house to direct their voters’ preferences. If you vote below the line in your respective Upper House region you will determine where your preferences go. Given that Durery bragged he can help elect a crossbench Dan can work with the Liberals have referred this to IBAC which makes it 6 IBAC investigations Dan is under.

The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) has referred its investigation into Matthew Guy’s chief of staff Mitch Catlin to IBAC claiming they had not received satisfactory responses in its own investigation. The Liberal State Director Sam McQuestin has accused the VEC through its statement of election interference.

Dan has claimed the Liberals are preferencing racists, Nazis, and anti-semites but refused to name which parties and candidates he was referring to.

It is summit season with ASEAN in Cambodia, the G20 in Bali, and APEC in Thailand. During the G20 Anthony Albanese met with Chinese President Xi Jinping, the first meeting between the leaders of both countries. French President Emmanuel Macron was still griping over the canceled submarine contract when Scott Morrison was Prime Minister in favor of the AUKUS nuclear submarines.

School truancy has increased in NZ with just 40% of school students attending school regularly. National Opposition Leader Christopher Luxon provoked outrage from educators and principals for saying standards of school leadership are a mixed bag around the country. ACT Party David Seymour trolled the principals when asked what he thought of Luxon’s comments saying that while many principals are excellent, some are absolutely hopeless and even identified one by name. ACT has promised a $250m Teaching Excellence Reward Fund (TERF) that will pay good teachers more.
