In the United States, it’s LGBT Pride Month. Down under where it is winter the LGBT festivals are held during our summer. But in this globalist age, multinational corporations change their social media logos on all their western nations’ accounts to the colors of the rainbow flag to show they are an “inclusive” organization.
Of course, in 2022 the rainbow flag now has extra stripes to include transgenders and people of color. The LGBT acronym has now expanded to include various other letters of the alphabet to include new sexualities and genders and is quoted by some media and politicians as LGBTQIA+.
It is noteworthy that corporations do not change their social media logos on their Middle Eastern, African, and Asian accounts. This is because in many of these nations homosexuality is illegal and culturally unacceptable.
This is why many were stunned that the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) announced it was celebrating Pride month by raising the extra stripes rainbow flag at its global headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland.
Even more amazingly FIFA has pledged it’s 2022 World Cup in Qatar “will be a celebration of unity and diversity – a joining of people from all walks of life – regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, age, disability, sex characteristics, sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression – everybody will be welcome”.
The absurdity of this pledge by FIFA is that homosexuality is illegal in Qatar with punishments including the death penalty for Muslims under sharia law. Various Qatar national officials have said that LGBT visitors to the World Cup need to respect the norms and culture of the host country. Rainbow flags will be confuscated if displayed during games.
FIFA insistence that “hotels and other contractors involved in welcoming LGBTQIA+ fans to Qatar to do so in a manner that respects the rights and privacy of everyone” is not going to plan with many hotels refusing to book accommodation for same-sex couples or on the condition that they hide their relationship in public.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup was hosted in Russia which has a law that criminalizes promoting LGBT relationships to minors. Not a host nation that celebrates LGBTQIA+ people and culture.
FIFA over the past decade has been exposed as being one of the most corrupt organizations in the world. In 2015 the US FBI indicted 14 FIFA officials on charges of wire fraud, racketeering, and money laundering. Virtue signaling on LGBT inclusion by corporations accused or convicted of wrongdoing is a common corporate PR strategy, often labeled rainbow washing.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is being hosted by the United States and held in June Pride Month so FIFA will have unlimited scope to virtue signal about LGBTQIA+ inclusion. Though if FIFA was really serious about advancing LGBTQIA+ rights it would take action against 70 of its members that still criminalize homosexual relations.
