Sky News has just shown it is willing to ignore its viewers dismay at the sacking of Mark Latham with the broadcast of an unreserved apology to Wendy Harmer and Kristina Keneally for airing Mark Latham’s comments about them. The apology was made on behalf of Sky News Management was made by host Ashleigh Gillon on The Latest. The broadcast of this apology would indicate they will not be giving any consideration to the petition launched by fans of Mark Latham to have him reinstated.
Many fans of Latham’s show Outsiders have said they will no longer be watching Sky News and are considering cancelling their Foxtel subscription. Many are also disappointed with statements of conservative Sky News personalities Paul Murray and Andrew Bolt who implied they agreed with the sacking. Mark Latham himself has also not held back taking to Twitter to defend himself and also to take a swing at Sky claiming that they “urged” Outsiders to be outrageous because they “love ratings” but now have thrown them “under the bus”.
