The Unshackled Waves Ep. 95 National Energy Guarantee, Lisa Wilkinson Clinton on the ABC and LibertyFest
Video Version
Show Description
On this week’s review show we discuss our experience at LibertyFest in Brisbane as well as the week’s news. To do this we are joined again by Unshackled Contributor Jacob Watts.
Finally the Coalition unveiled its new energy policy which was agreed to at the most recent Coalition partyroom meeting. The Clean Energy Target will be dumped and instead the government will adopt a National Energy Guarantee. This will require energy companies to provide a certain percentage of electricity from reliable power sources such as a coal. Although we would prefer a market solution this does at least go some way to solve the nation’s energy crises. We also ponder the question if it is enough to save Malcolm Turnbull’s leadership given he lost his 21st Newspoll in a row but then again the polls also show there is no other preferred Liberal leader.
We decide to discuss the big entertainment story of the week which was co-host of the Today Show Lisa Wilkinson abruptly quitting the Nine Network to take up a role with the Project on Network Ten. News reports suggested she left because her demand to be the paid the same as her co-host Karl Stefanovic were not met. This re-ignited again the feminist rage about the gender wage gap, we again debunk why it is a myth due to the different jobs and career choices men and women make. We also ponder why feminists hold up women earning millions of dollars such as Lisa Wilkinson and Jennifer Lawrence as the face of wage injustice. We also suggest it could be the entertainment industry itself despite its virtue signalling are actually the worst sexists given the Harvey Weinstein scandal.
Hillary Clinton gave an exclusive Australian interview to Sarah Ferguson on Four Corners. Clinton still refused to take responsibility for her loss and still blamed James Comey, Wikileaks and the Russians. Ferguson’s questions were equally disgraceful as she never pressed Clinton on the corruption in the Clinton Foundation or Bill Clinton’s sexual assault allegations. It is likely however Clinton would not have agreed to a tough interview and it was not as cringeworthy as her appearance on Jimmy Fallon. But if the ABC were not allowed to conduct a tough interview they should not have done it and not wasted taxpayers money on trip to New York and provided more evidence of their bias.
Jacob has me reflect on my experience at LibertyFest including meeting up with fellow alt-media figures such as Dave Pellowe from Church and State, Mark Latham and Independent Man. I also reflect on the line up of speakers and the type of people who attended including many fans of the Unshackled. We also sold the benefits of attending such conferences as they are good way to meet like minded people and help plan future political activism.
