Show Description
On this week’s review show we are joined by Unshackled contributor from New Zealand Arthur Pigeons. We start by reflecting on ANZAC Day which is an important day for both Australia and New Zealand to honor their war veterans. The commemorations have been marred in recent years by various terror plots leading to increased security on the day. We highlight the people who tried to ruin the day including vandals, protesters and a moronic social media post from Islamic feminist Yassmin Abdel-Magied.
We also analyze the results of the first round of voting for the French Presidential Election. The Unshackled’s choice Marine Le Pen made it through to the second round and will be up against former socialist Emmanuel Macron who has got the endorsement of all the other candidates including the so called conservative François Fillon. We highlight it is a contest been nationalism and globalism and elitism vs people power. We are pleased that Le Pen has made it further than the political establishment had hoped but we concede its going to be difficult for her to win in the second round based on the polls.
We also criticize New Zealand’s Prime Minister Bill English’s intervention in Australian politics by expressing his disappointment in Malcolm Turnbull’s announcement last week of the tightening of citizenship eligibility. We discuss English’s approach to immigration to New Zealand, his government’s pledge to accept more refugees including Australia’s boat people. We stress that New Zealand must not make the same immigration mistakes as Australia has.
