Despite some reported visa difficulties Lauren Southern and Stefan Molyneux are now in Australia and will host their first talk tonight in Melbourne as part of their Australian tour. Southern already made her Australian speaking debut on Monday night in Cairns at a Free Speech Forum hosted by the Young Conservatives North Queensland.

While there were no protests up north the same can’t be said for Melbourne, a city infamous for its aggressive and violent leftist street movements. The Campaign Against Racism and Fascism along with other known Melbourne leftist activists have been planning a protest outside the eventual venue for months which is why it is only today being revealed to ticketholders. Another leftist group Yelling at Racist Dogs is planning to abuse and harass attendees.

Because of these leftist threats, Victoria Police is sending a number of officers there. However despite the fact that we are supposed to pay through our taxes for police protection Victoria Police has already sent the organisers of the tour Axiomatic Events a bill for $68,000. This was apparently discounted from $150,000.

Victoria Police also issued a bill to Milo Yiannpolas for $50,000 for their presence outside his Melbourne show where left-wing protestors clashed with patriot activists for which five Patriots and three leftists were criminally charged. Milo and the event organisers have refused to pay with the state government considering legal action.

There has been much online disgust at the issuing of this police bill with people arguing that you wouldn’t charge the family of a murder victim for the police investigation so why should the victims, in this case, be charged? The Australian Taxpayers’ Alliance has launched a proforma letter to send to the Victorian Police Minister Lisa Neville to convince her to cancel the bill labelling it extortion.

Southern and Molyneux appeared on the Bolt Report last night to discuss how absurd they believed it to be that they were being charged by government authorities to protect them from violence. Southern explained that they already have their own private security for the event and that they didn’t ask for the extra police protection yet are being charged.

She said to Bolt there was a rubbish bin where he could put the bill as she and the organizers have no intention of paying. Bolt accused the state government of running a racket by charging for police protection at conservative speaking events due to threats by the left. He said they are making it nearly impossible for conservatives to hold events in Melbourne having a chiling affect on free speech. Bolt himself couldn’t launch his own book in Melbourne and was attacked when launching someone else’s.

Bolt also questioned Southern and Molyneux’s more controversial actions and statements such as Southern’s plans to hand out ‘Allah is gay’ flyers in the English town of Luton which got her banned from the UK and her work stopping migrant boats in Europe with Defend Europe. He also asked about her new documentary Farmlands on the white farm murders in South Africa. Bolt also questioned Molyneux’s presentations discussing race and intelligence and how it is related to immigration policy.

Southern’s appearance on the Bolt report capped off a busy day for as she was interviewed by A Current Affair reporter Laura Turner who took her to Chinatown, Melbourne in an attempt to prove to her that multiculturalism is a success in Australia. The tagline of the story introduced by host Tracey Grimshaw was ‘when does free speech become hate speech?’

Southern also appeared on 3AW Tom Elliot’s drive program.

Southern herself did some media of her own on the streets of Melbourne asking young people in the CBD whether Lauren Southern should be killed for being a fascist without revealing her identity or actually being recognised. She also stuck ‘it’s okay to be white’ stickers’ on posters promoting the protest against her Melbourne event. Southern wore an ‘it’s okay to be white’ t-shirt open her entry to Australia.

Everyone is hoping that tonight’s event runs smoothly and ticketholders’ safety is ensured so that they are comfortable enough to attend future conservative speaking events in Melbourne. If Southern and Molyneux can conquer Melbourne then the rest of their Australian tour should run smoothly.
