Show Description
Welcome to another In Focus Show. This where we bring in an expert on a single topic, so we can all get a better insight into the topic from someone well versed in it. Our expert for this show is Nicola Wright to discuss Homeschooling. She is a homeschooling parent of two from Perth and works in digital communications. She is a writer for our friends at LibertyWorks and also a contributor to the Spectator Australia. She also gave a presentation on homeschooling at the 2017 ALS Friedman Conference.

We begin by asking her about the case for homeschooling and what a typical homeschooling day looks like. We then address some of the objections that are raised to homeschooling such as that people such as religious fundamentalists can teach their children a warped view of the world, that parents do not have the same skills as teachers and that homeschooled children do not get the same socialization skills that others children get in a traditional school environment. We also discuss the relationship that homeschooling parents have with governments and some of the problems government interference in homeschooling creates.
