Show Description
With Queensland Election Day almost here in what has been a closely watched campaign. As part of the Unshackled’s coverage we thought we’d have a comprehensive election preview. To do this we invited on the show an expert in Queensland politics Graham Young who is the Executive Director of the Brisbane based free market think tank the Australian Institute for Progress which produces research on Queensland public policy.
We ask him to provide a critique of the performance of the Palaszczuk Labor Government which has been in power since January 2015. We ask him about the strength of the Liberal National Opposition led by Tim Nicholls, what they appear to have learned from the one term Campbell Newman government and whether the merged party been a success. We look at the One Nation factor this election led by LNP defector Steve Dickson asking why they are so popular in Queensland and how they would try to influence state government policy.
We ask for Graham’s analysis of the key issues in this campaign the Adani coal mine in North Queensland and state infrastructure in south-east Queensland. We also ask him to provide a summary of the performance of all three campaigns and also a final prediction.
