The UK Government Met Office has issued a red extreme heat warning as they are forecasting Monday and Tuesday the temperature could reach 40C. Met Office CEO Penelope Endersby released a video warning people to stay out of the sun. Separately the UK Health Security Agency issued a Level 4 national emergency heat health alert. Meteorologist John Hammond told GB News that the weather could be lethal leading to thousands of excess deaths. The Caretaker UK Government held an emergency COBRA meeting.

This heatwave hysteria was of course overcooked, in this post-pandemic world there is a new constituency who clamor for moire nanny state measures and bureaucrats and technocrats in governments who would love more power and control. Boris Johnson didn’t bother attending the COBRA meeting as he was holding a belated wedding reception at the Prime Minister’s holiday home at Chequers. Conservative backbencher John Hayes said the heatwave panic was the result of a cowardly new world with snowflakes melting in the heat.

The final five UK Conservative Party MPs for Prime Minister are Rishi Sunak, Penny Mordaunt, Liz Truss, Tom Tugendhat, and Kemi Badenoch. MPs will vote again this week to decide a final two who will go to a vote of Conservative Party members. They all agreed to a Sky News UK debate despite the network’s bias against the Conservatives and Boris Johnson’s Prime Ministership.

Australia could have yet another wet summer with the La Nina weather system possibly making another resurgence in the southern hemisphere. Despite the recent wet and cold temperatures in Australia the federal, state, and territory governments are all committed to climate action to stop it from being as warm as it currently is not. The Victorian Liberal Opposition in the lead-up to the state election in November has committed to legislating a 50% renewable energy target by 2030.
