It’s that time of year again where we look back and remember the year it was.

The annual Unshackler Awards is a series of 10 Awards to be released over coming days to remember the good and the bad as we break the chains of control.

We face an uncertain time globally and as a nation, our identity and our values are being eroded by a globalist agenda and the regressive left.  Free Speech is under attack, political correctness is out of control and the term patriot is frowned upon.  But The Unshackled will celebrate the term patriot, we are proud of the people who stand up for our nation and our way of life.  That is why we want to take a moment and remember the ones fighting for this great country, the true patriots.

The Unshackled team have selected our ten nominees, now it’s your chance to vote and reduce it down to just one: The “2016 Australian Patriot of the Year Award” which will be announced on Australia Day.

Bob Katter is your typical patriotic maverick from North Queensland. He is someone that isn’t afraid to say what he thinks, making him a true representitive of the people. A country bloke that fights for farmers, and ensures the people from the bush have a voice. He established the Katter’s Australia party back in 2011 and has always been in the spotlight. Bob is someone that represents true Aussie values, and wants a return to the great western Christian values that this country was built on. He fights against nanny state policy, has been outspoken on immigration, and is a genuine commoner that aims to better this country.

Rita Panahi is a columnist with the Herald Sun and appears on Sky News, and Sunrise on Seven. She is a regular on 2GB and 3AW and is widely known as someone that tells it like it is. Being a conservative woman of Iranian descent, she constantly triggers those on the left as she doesn’t play identity politics. She is a consistent critic of immigration, social justice warriors, and Islam.

Mark Latham became a houshold name when he was elected Opposition Leader of the Labor Party back in 2003. He unsuccessfully ran against John Howard in the 2004 Federal Election, and then later retired from politics. Although he was from the progressive side of politics, Mark Latham held old Labor values that no longer exist amongst the Marxist party. He started to write articles and do interviews regularly. Latham than became a regular on Sky News, eventually getting his own show called The Outsiders. Latham has become more conservative over the years, and has been a leading figure of the alt-right movement that has advocated against Marxism, political correctness, and immigration. He has always been a genuine patriot that believed in the “ladder of opportunity”, and is a strong voice for the silent majority in this country.

Dan Evans describes himself as an Australian Conservative Capitalist and models his facebook page as such. He advocates for small government, a reduction in red tape, and for Aussie values to once again be brought to the forefront of society. Dan is a true patriot that is known by many through the uploading of videos, where he tackles the tough issues that others in Canberra shy away from. He is involved in the patriotic Party For Freedom movement that highlights the ongoing threat we face from immigration, and our culture being eroded away to appease minority groups. He ran in the ACT Elections this year as an Independent as he aimed to destroy the Marxist push that is so evident in our society today. A true fighter for all things Australian, and hero to the conservative movement.

Pauline Hanson entered federal politics in 1996, she has been to Australia what Donald Trump is to the United States. Her maiden speech in 1996 symbolised her journey to unconditionally speak the truth during her time in Parliament despite a growing atmosphere of political correctness. Her ultimate goal was, and always remains, to ensure the preservation of Australia’s values and identity amidst a time of progressivism and a tyrannical enforcement of multiculturalism. Unfortunate events within the Liberal Party of Australia resulted in a suspension of her political activities. But in 2016, Pauline entered politics again, and re-embarked on a journey to not only represent the best interests of the nation and its people, but also bring back migration and it’s issues to the centre of attention by revealing its consequences. Her One Nation party secured four Senate seats, and didn’t fail to make headlines in sensationalised mainstream news stories. Pauline has been called a racist and bigot countless times by the left simply for speaking the truth about migration and it’s disastrous effects. Despite her opponents’ attempts to put her down, Pauline has continued to rise, especially due to the fact that her views on migration are aligned with reality. With her love for Australia’s culture and commitment to uploading its values and way of life, Pauline Hanson is a true patriot.

Sonia Kruger spoke for ordinary Australians. Because of her role, we finally gained a voice on national television this year in an industry dominated by progressives. Today Extra host Sonia Kruger bravely stated she supported a ban on Muslim Immigration and two weeks later called out the absurdity of offering scholarships based on sexuality. Despite the outrage on social media at her views, she didn’t back down and thankfully neither did her employer. This is why the Unshackled launched a campaign earlier this month, nominating her for the Gold Logie. We are also happy to have her nominated for our own award of patriot of the year.

Ross Cameron is a former Liberal MP and now political commentator on Sky News. Cameron was one of Trump’s biggest Australian supporters proudly wearing his Make America Great Again cap on television throughout the year. He was a staunch defender of the honour of white males in these politically correct times. Along with Mark Latham and Rowan Dean he will host the Outsiders in 2017, structured as an alternative point of the view to the usual leftist commentary. For his promotion of the Trump Train here in Australia as well as being a voice for the new right, Ross Cameron is nominated for Patriot of the Year.

Dick Smith is a highly successful individual, he holds a variety of occupations including entrepreneur, aviator, philanthropist and political activist. Smith is the founder of the well known Dick Smith Electronics company, allowing him to become a household name in Australian politics. His political activities currently occupy issues central to the preservation of the nation, such as focusing on limiting government regulation and tackling the country’s high immigration rates. Smith is famous for supporting Pauline Hanson’s immigration policies, as well as telling Wales Aly that the latter has no idea about economics.

Blair Cottrell is the leader of the controversial group United Patriot Front which has amassed quite a large following on social media. A controversial character who has previously done time in prison for arson. He had been linked with Nazism by many, but no solid proof has ever been presented.  Despite this he still continues to rally support with his passionate Pro Australian, anti Marxism Speeches. He is passionate about Australia and Western Values and is constantly fighting the Marxist agenda and attempts by the media and others to paint patriotism in a bad light. Despite his chequered past The Unshackled has nominated him based on the large number of followers and our principals of not bowing down to the establishment who would frown upon his nomination.

David Leyonhjelm is one of the loudest voices for freedom in the Australian Parliament, as a Liberal Democrats Senator. He has spearheaded a Senate inquiry into the nanny state and called out the public health lobby’s various ideas to take away our individual rights. He has stood up for free speech advocating for the repeal of 18C which including his mock complaint against being called an ‘angry white male’. He stood up for thousands of shooters in opposing the Alder shot gun ban against a barrage of hysteria from the political and media elites. Not afraid of offending people he has told whiny progressives and feminists to f**k off and not backed down. With his unapologetic attitude in fighting for rights of adults to be left alone David Leyonhjelm is proudly nominated for patriot of the year.
