It was a week of anger at those not going with the crowd, whether it was sports fans ignoring the Welcome to Country, a school holidays drag show interrupted, or triggered socialists outside CPAC Australia. I go through it all on tonight’s Tim’s News Explosion.
The Australia Cup Soccer Tournament Final has attracted the attention of the mainstream media after Sydney United 58 Croatian fans heckled the Aboriginal welcome to country. Two Sydney United fans were also accused of making Nazi salutes, other fans were filmed chanting a Ustaše slogan. The Ustaše led by Ante Pavelic founded the first modern Independent State of Croatia in 1941 which was aligned with Hitler and Mussolini.
The National Socialist Network protested the performance of drag artist Belia Bzarr at YouthFest last Friday which took place at the public venue Queen’s Park in Moonee Ponds. YouthFest aimed at 12-25-year-olds is organized by the Moonee Valley Council.
CPAC Australia took place in Sydney over the weekend. The local Antifa and Socialist activists protested the event, keynote speaker Nigel Farage attempted to have a discussion with one of the protestors but he told Farage was only interested in shutting the event down. NSW Treasurer Matt Kean won the Kennelly Cup for being the politician who most motivated conservative activists to attend CPAC.
Incumbent Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has advanced to the Presidential election run-off against leftist Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The polls predicted Luiz would win a majority in the first round but have proved wrong. The run-off election is in 4 weeks.
Liz Truss has performed a huge U-Turn just weeks into her Prime Ministership. She has dumped a proposed mini budget tax cut of the top tax rate from 45p to 40p which was to be funded by borrowing. She claimed it was all her Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng’s idea. The Daily Mirror newspaper was widely mocked for using the wrong photo of Kwasi.
Speculation continues about how the Russian Norstream 2 pipeline was damaged. Was it sabotage? US Undersecretary of State Victoria Nuland previously said if Russia invaded Ukraine Norstream 2 would not proceed.
US President Joe Biden has had another week of public gaffes and confusion. The worst was when he believed Republican Congresswoman Jackie Walorski died in a car accident a few months ago was still alive. His Vice President Kamala Harris while visiting the DMZ said the US and a strong relationship with the Republic of North Korea.
