On Friday night Pro-Palestine activists staged a protest in Caulfield in the heart of Melbourne’s Jewbelt with local Jewish residents coming onto the streets as well. The protest was triggered by an arson attack on a Burgertory restaurant in the suburb. Its CEO Hash Tayeh is a pro-Palestinian activist and told people not to protest in Caulfield. Victoria Police said they were confident the arson attack was not racially motivated. The Free Palestine Melbourne apologised to the Jewish community for the protest as a synagogue was evacuated.

Premier Jacinta Allan and Opposition Leader John Pesutto released statements condemning the Caulfield protests claiming it was at odds with Victoria being a proudly multicultural state with diversity as our strength. The Victoria Liberals want the Allan Government to reintroduce move-on laws. NSW Premier Chris Minns wants stronger anti-vilification laws in response to recent pro-Palestine protests decrying the lack of successful prosecutions under existing laws.

Despite signs at pro-Palestine protests calling for the dissolution of Israel some local media still believe the National Socialist Network (NSN) is the biggest threat to the Jewish community. Antifa put out a community safety alert because NSN members were on their way to the Shrine for Remembrance Day.
