United States President Donald Trump has been accused of being racist again. The last accusation of racism came two weeks ago when Trump tweeted about the four progressive Democrat Congresswomen’s anti-Americanism suggesting “Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came”.

The Democrat controlled House of Representatives then passed a resolution condemning Trump’s tweets. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wanted it on the record that the tweets were racist however lawmakers cannot malign the character of the president on the floor of the Congress.

Trump has never been one to balk at accusations of racism or other slurs from the left, he will attack those who attack him, or the United States, or are performing poorly in jobs of importance.

Trump this week had his sights set on another critic Democrat Congressman Elijah Cummings who represents half of the city of Baltimore in the state of Maryland. Baltimore is 60km from Washington and part of the Washington–Baltimore–Arlington metropolitan area.

Baltimore was once of America’s great cities but has been a city on the decline over the past five decades, which has coincided with city being under continuous Democrat Party rule.

The city’s homicide rate is 55 per 100,000 people, the second worst in the United States and 21st worst in the world. The vast majority of the city’s public school children can’t read or write at grade. Corruption has plagued the city office and various departments of its public service. High taxes and crime has seen the city’s population decline by 600,000 or retract by 1.2% according to the latest census figures.

Two long running television series have aired in the United States ‘Homicide: Life on the Street’ and ‘The Wire’ which have both grimly depicted the decaying, dysfunctional and crime ridden nature of the City of Baltimore.

There was two weeks of rioting in Baltimore in 2015 after the death of black teenager Freddie Gray while in police custody. To escape charges of police brutality the six police officers involved in the arrest of Gray were charged, three were acquitted, resulting in the other three officers having their charges dropped.

The consequence of the charges against police officers was they took a step back from actually enforcing the law in Baltimore. As a result the homicide rate became the worst it had been in the city since 1971 and arrests went down by 50%.

A noticeable side effect of Baltimore decline and decay has been a major rat infestation problem. In 2018 the United States’ Public Broadcasting Service aired a documentary called ‘Rat Film’. The city was called one of the nation’s “Rattiest Cities” according to a report from Orkin, a pest control company.

Elijah Cummings has been representing Baltimore in the US House of Representatives in 1996, and before that was in the Maryland House of Delegates representing Baltimore beginning in 1983. He has been a politician representing Baltimore long enough to be considered part of the problem.

But of course when Trump tweets basic facts about Baltimore and urges a long serving lawmaker to take responsibility for the mess he has overseen, Trump is accused of attacking a great American city and being a racist.

Because Cummings’s district is 59% black and Cummings is black himself Trump’s tweets were deemed to be motivated by racism. Trump was rather being polite in these tweets, he could have commented as has previously been attributed to him called Baltimore a ‘shithole’ and he still would have been correct.

The Baltimore Sun which has documented all of these problems with Baltimore wrote an editorial that said ‘Better to have a few rats than to be one‘. Though in November 2016 the Baltimore Sun published an op-ed by Sean Kennedy titled: “Trump’s right: Declare Baltimore a ‘disaster’ and rebuild it“.

Bernie Sanders while running for President in 2016 alleged that living conditions in Baltimore were worse than in the dictatorship of North Korea

The Reverend Al Sharpton known for decades of race baiting alleged on his MSNBC show PoliticsNation that Trump “reserves particular insult for black and brown cities.”

During a scheduled visit to Baltimore on Monday with former Republican National Committee Chairman and former Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael Steele said “Little did I know that Mr. Trump was going to, on the eve of this, attack the congressman from this city. But not only the congressman but the people of this city, in the most bigoted and racist way.”

Trump and Sharpton were friends when he was just a businessman. Trump was eager to remind Sharpton of the favours he used to do for him.

He then followed it up by calling out Sharpton’s own anti-white racism.

Trump’s Housing and Urban Development Secretary Dr Ben Carson who is black visited Baltimore yesterday and was hounded by reporters about Trump’s tweets. He told them we needed to face up to the reality of what Baltimore has become “It’s sort of like if you have a patient who has cancer. You can dress them up, and put a nice suit on them, and you can try to ignore it, but that cancer is going to have a devastating effect”.

Cummings’ southern border comments were not the only reason Trump attacked him. He is chair of the House Oversight Committee which voted to subpoena emails and text messages flowing from White House officials with the target Ivanka Trump, and her husband, Jared Kushner as they have used personal accounts while working in the White House.

This was probably the motivation for Trump’s next tweet attacking Cummings’ asking what has happened to the billions pumped into save Baltimore over the decades and that Cummings should investigate himself.

The left’s u-turn on Baltimore is another example of their Trump Derangement Syndrome. If Trump is in favour of a certain position or states a particular set of facts, they take the opposite view.

The only hope for the people of Baltimore is to elect politicians who vow to ‘Make Baltimore Great Again’ and drain the city’s swamp. Re-electing the same Democrats won’t fix it. Donald Trump in another tweet suggested a way to save Baltimore.
