US based entrepreneur Elon Musk has earned himself an unparalleled reputation over the course of his illustrious career, as a man whose visionary instinct looks set to change the world for the better. His numerous projects — including space exploration technology, neurotechnology, and sustainable transportation companies, have earned him worldwide fame and allowed him to amass a large fortune of wealth. However, despite the success which Musk has already achieved through these other projects, the controversial magnate looks set to try his hand at a new problem facing the world — that of fake news.
Musk tweeted on Thursday morning that he intended to “create a site where the public can rate the core truth of any article & track the credibility score over time of each journalist, editor & publication. Thinking of calling it Pravda…”. Pravda was of course also the name of the former Soviet Union Communist Party’s official newspaper. Such a site — particularly one which has the backing of someone as high profile as Elon Musk, would no doubt send shock waves through the mainstream media establishment. For too long, mainstream media journalists have twisted the truth, pushed unscrupulous agendas, and misled the public — who have relied on these same journalists to present subjective accounts of what is happening in the world. The public have been taken for granted by the mainstream for far too long. The jig is up for fake news.
