BREAKING: Van hits pedestrians on London Bridge, police responding
UPDATE: police are responding to three incidents across London, including London Bridge, Borough Market and Vauxhall. Official statements have not yet been released, but witnesses claim a van mowed down as many as 20 people on London Bridge alone.
Police are starting to respond to a potential terror-related incident on London Bridge after reports claim that a van has run over large groups of pedestrians on the landmark bridge. The London Ambulance is already on its way to treat casualties in what is yet another serious violent attack in the United Kingdom.
The area has been evacuated, and armed response vehicles have arrived at the scene. Some witnesses claim a man was taken in handcuffs by the police.
The country has been turbulent for months after a series of Islamic terrorist attacks that took place over the past few years, endangering the lives and livelihoods of millions. It’s still mourning the Manchester terrorist attack that rocked northwestern city late last month, which killed 22 people and injured 60.
The London Bridge incident is believed to have occurred just after 10.30 pm local time. Some witnesses are saying about 15-20 people were run over by the van, with others saying it was only five or six.
While it is not yet clear whether the incident is related to terrorism, it is highly likely that it is, considering the past events that have happened throughout Europe.
London’s Metropolitan Police twitter page is already updating the events on Twitter.
