Apparently It’s No Gender December
The latest dose of gender bending madness has arrived just in time for Christmas with the ‘No Gender December’ campaign which aims to end gendered marketing of toys for children. The campaign was started in 2014 by a group called Play Unlimited whose aim is to end completely what they call ‘gender stereotyped toys’.
This campaign is the latest assault on children by the radical gender theorists who have been relentless of late in trying to promote gender as social construct and gender fluidity in society especially to the young.
The Play Unlimited website does not give any indication of which organisation is behind the No Gender December but just a look at some of the content they publish indicates some disturbing parenting techniques promoted. Despite the overwhelming scientific evidence that men and women’s brains are different, that children naturally choose gendered toys. This organisation believes that with correct parental conditioning you can actually make boys like girl’s toys and girls like boy toys. They completely believe that gendered behaviour is entirely to do with societal pressures and expectations.
Despite the unscientific theories of this group when the campaign started they had the support of Greens Senator Larissa Waters who claimed that gendered toys ‘feed into very serious problems such as domestic violence and the gender pay gap’.
This year a group called the Good Education Group has joined the campaign, whose CEO has stated the campaign can combat alleged gendered workplace biases ‘’perception that STEM (Science, technology, engineering and maths) are fields dominated by men and avoided by women, and just as toy stores typically separate ‘girls’ from ‘boys’ toys, workplaces tend to be sharply divided between ‘pink’ and ‘blue’ jobs.”
The scary thing about this movement is that they have been having success with leading retailers who are all too eager to show their commitment to diversity and social justice causes. Leading retailers Target and Big W no longer have gendered toy categories, Play Unlimited also has a list of smaller retailers who have adopted their campaign.
This campaign is also part of broader movement to completely remove gender or differences in gender from our society. There have been expecting parents who decide not to tell others what gender their coming child is so they are not bound by gendered expectations, there are even worse situations where parents aim to correct the normal gendered behaviour of their young children.
No Gender December is just the latest example of this gender neutral/fluidity movement aiming to remove the concept of male and female. We have seen this with the Safe Schools Program, also the introduction of the Respectful Relationships Program in Victorian Schools. Not to mention the push to have gender neutral bathrooms installed everywhere and laws being pushed for people to change the gender on their birth certificate to whatever they please.
Ironically this gender as a social construct theory actually falls apart because of the existence of transgender people which the radical theorists also claim to support. Their brains match the opposite sex more than the sex they are assigned and they are naturally attracted to toys of the opposite sex, and choose to play with them. This is why in the past feminists for example did not like the existence of transgender people because they proved that men and woman were different and that gendered stereotypes had basis in scientific fact.
The fact that these gender theorists are growing in number is very disturbing. Who knows the damage they are causing to the current generation of children and what that will mean for the future. Does gender nonconforming behaviour exist in children? Of course, should it be corrected? Children should just be allowed to be themselves as they have always been.
Tomboys for example have been around throughout history. But does that mean we need to completely destroy the concept of gender in children and associate certain behaviours as more common in boys or girls? Defiantly not. Boys play with trucks and girls pay with Barbies naturally, not because society forces them. There is nothing wrong with girls and boys doing activities that are naturally associated with them.
Childhood should be a time of innocence and letting children do what they enjoy. We should just ignore these groups such as Playground Unlimited and treat them with the distain they deserve. Buy your children the toys that they want for Christmas, and don’t be influenced by what some radical gender theorist tells you.
