Why Is The Media Lying About “Climate”-protesting Extremists?
The mainstream media continue to ignore the identities of the protesting extremists organising global-warming rallies around Australia.
If there had been a pro-life protest in Sydney last week and one of the groups organising it had been open neo-Nazis, the media may have noticed. If that group had then marched down the street during that pro-life protest, waving swastika flags, the media definitely would have noticed. And if a recently arrested leader of that neo-Nazi group had been a featured speaker at the pro-life protest (or at any protest for a right-of-centre issue), every section of the media would be demanding that not only the other groups involved, but every prominent right-wing figure in Australia, denounce and disavow them.
If the protesting extremists involved are far left ones, however, the media remain silent.
Last week, there was a “Global Day for Climate Justice” rally and, as has become the norm this year around Australia, one of the main organising groups has been the “Uni Students For Climate Justice”, a front group for the revolutionary Trotskyist organisation Socialist Alternative.
Socialist Alternative (SAlt) wants to overthrow the government and implement a totalitarian state in the mould of the early Soviet Union. Both on its website and in its magazine Red Flag, SAlt has published numerous articles explaining that it believes protesting for “climate justice” is a step towards making this revolution happen.
There is absolutely no media pressure on the other organisers of these events to disassociate from these extremists. Last Friday in Sydney, SAlt didn’t even bother to appear under the name of one of its front groups. They marched alongside supposedly mainstream leftists, carrying banners with “Socialist Alternative” proudly emblazoned, under a sea of dozens of red communist flags. They then listened attentively as Lily Campbell (one of the main Socialist Alternative organisers for Sydney) was allowed to speak to the crowd, lauding the violent SAlt-organised IMARC rioters. Lily herself was arrested and kept in the cells overnight for organising a traffic-blocking “Extinction Rebellion protest”. This is, of course, the same Lily Campbell who organised the violent mob which attacked Tony Abbott’s sister outside a fundraiser.
Of the dozens of mainstream media outlets that reported on the event, not one bothered to point this out. These are the same Australian media which attacked Victorian MP Bernie Finn when the extremely inoffensive right-of-centre Youtuber, Dia Beltran, showed up at a pro-life rally he organised in Melbourne.
The other groups organising the climate “justice” protests include youth members of the Greens and the ALP, as well as well-paid academics like Rebecca Gilson. Where is the pressure on them to disavow their extremist associates?
These protesting extremists are able to continue working inside respectable society because the media let them. It’s time for that to end.
