Volunteer Firefighter Tony Abbott Still Criticised by Leftists

Tony Abbott is one of the few living former Prime Ministers with the sack to help the firefighting effort. Despite this, armchair pundits still attack him.

Tony Abbott

Even while he was a politician and later Prime Minister Tony Abbott still took the time to engage in volunteer community service as a firefighter, lifesaver, assisting in remote indigenous communities and raised money for charity during the annual pollie pedal.

Despite all this, he was still viciously attacked and smeared by the leftist social media mob for being a conservative. It was the spamming of social media networks like Twitter with Abbott Derangement Syndrome and lower polling numbers in 2015 that spooked the Liberal party room into removing him as Prime Minister in September 2015.

The left got their wish in the 2019 federal election in ending Tony Abbott’s political career completely with independent Zali Steggall defeating Abbott in his northern Sydney seat of Warringah after he held it for 25 years.

Tony Abbott has always been known as the action man, as he no longer has the responsibilities of an MP Tony Abbott has spent more time engaged in his volunteer community service. During the 2019-20 New South Wales bushfire season, his firefighting service coupled with his years of experience is both needed and extremely appreciated.

Even those on the opposite side of Abbott’s politics who have not had their rationality warped by online political rage have been grateful for his service. The Labor MP for the federal seat of Macquire Susan Templeman tweeted her gratitude for the local volunteer firefighters in her seat in November happily posing for a selfie with the volunteers which included Tony Abbott.

Tony Abbott has been fighting the bushfires in New South Wales since September and has just completed an overnight shift fighting fires in Nowra. Abbott is not bragging about it humbly getting on with the job.

But because Tony Abbott has always been a skeptic about man-induced catastrophe climate change and not supported extreme carbon dioxide reduction programs, according to the keyboard activists his firefighting service counts for nothing because of his climate denial, or climate criminality as they call it now cancels out the fires he assists in putting out.

The left has such disdain and hatred for Tony Abbott as a person that in 2016 they laughed and shared around a photo snapped by Dan Himbrechts of the Australian Associated Press in November 2016 of Tony Abbott falling over in front of firetruck while he was fighting the Castle Cove bushfires. The mainstream media thought Abbott falling over was so newsworthy they all wrote clickbait stores about it.

With the left’s social media rage and spam reaching new heights this fire season, with them claiming that climate change is the solely responsible cause of the bushfires Tony Abbott the firefighting volunteer is still game for criticism.

Graham Readfearn in the Guardian has reported on a New Year’s Eve broadcast by the Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation which featured an interview with Tony Abbott about climate policy over the past decade.

Recorded on December 15 Abbott commented that “While we still seem to be in the grip of a climate cult, the climate cult is going to produce policy outcomes that will cause people to wake up to themselves.” because “Sooner or later, in the end, people get hit over the head by reality.”

Abbott was being interviewed by the broadcaster’s foreign editor Eran Mor-Cicurel who interrupted Abbott to argue that because Australia had been hit by fires and disasters “happening again and again” asked Abbott if he was “denying that fact we are in the process of global warming and global change”.

To which Abbott simply said there was “no doubt that climate has changed” there have been previous warming events throughout the earth’s history preceding the industrial revolution.

The Guardian’s spin on this interview was that the Israeli public broadcaster has come under fire from angry listeners over Abbott’s comments.

Eran Mor-Cicurel in what you could describe as a form of apology for interviewing Abbott told then Guardian “When we put it to air, people were terribly angry at us for airing such extremist views, especially from environmental organisations that were annoyed that we had given the stage to these kinds of views.”

Abbott’s comments came under fire from Josh Bornstein director of the far-left Australia Institute who claimed the “anti-science right-wing cult that has poisoned politics in Australia”.

Though this bushfire season the greatest online rage has still been reserved for the man currently in charge Prime Minister Scott Morrison. The unhinged venomous nature of ScoMo Derangement Syndrome are an even greater escalation than what we saw during Abbott Derangement Syndrome in 2013.

It’s a pathetic cop-out from Australia’s left that taking any practical action to put out this season’s bushfires is meaningless unless we decarbonize the economy. Tony Abbott has put out more fires than any keyboard warrior will ever be bothered to do. Scott Morrison is working harder to put out the fires any online commentator will do.
