When I first attended Mental Health First Aid) I was enthralled. So when our boss asked for someone to volunteer to be an Instructor, I put up my hand. Having lost a younger brother to suicide, I saw this as a great opportunity to make a real difference.
As far as I can remember, Mental Health First Aid had not received a complaint in the 11 years I worked as an accredited instructor. However after I ran the NO to same sex marriage campaign in my local area, 2 greens activists sent letters of complaints to MHFAA (Mental Health First Aid Australia). They made me look as bad as they possibly could including false allegations and twisting what I had said.
MHFAA immediately suspended my accreditation and sent a reply to these activists before even speaking to me. One wrote “we would like to state that we are respectful of the rights of others to have differing opinions on marriage equality…” Two weeks earlier they had posted on Facebook “Bigots: time to crawl back under your rock,” naming several people including myself followed by “we will not forget.”
In meeting with MHFAA, they made it clear that if I was to have my accreditation restored I would need to agree to affirm the newly formed LGBTIQ+ guidelines – including teaching gender fluidity. These guidelines were not taught in the training.
Knowing they would be a point of conflict with my Christian beliefs, I simply mentioned they were in the back of the manual. This was how I was able to remain respectful to those I was training and would have differing views, whilst still remaining true to my values. A follow up letter from MHFAA lawyers stated:
“The concept of gender fluidity remains part of the MHFAA curriculum and part of the MHFAA LGBTIQ+ guidelines, which must be followed. The curriculum and the guidelines are governed by a new code of conduct, both of which can be provided to your client upon request. In the event that your client seeks re-accreditation she would need to agree to teaching the concept of gender fluidity.”
We often hear that “the experts all agree…” The truth is that many experts disagree. Those who publicly do so will be shamed by activists and the media in order to silence them. Organisations have fallen prey to the brave new world of gender ideology – and anyone who dares question the harms associated with that ideology must be silenced. They must be made an example of so that everyone knows if you speak out you risk losing your career and your reputation.
Tasmania has just voted to remove gender – male and female – from birth certificates. This is being hailed by some as tremendous progress. As we blur the lines between male and female, women and girls are being put at greater risk. A man convicted of domestic violence now has access to women’s DV shelters under a new identity. Men can walk into women’s changing rooms as long as they “self-identify” as a woman.
There are hundreds of biological differences between men and women. But in this brave new world we are expected to ignore all of these because it’s discrimination to say biology is more important than your feelings in determining your identity. In spite of the growing evidence of the harm associated with puberty blockers and hormones, this ideology is being pushed in media, health, education and politics.
You can’t even talk about the health risks associated with the LGBTQI+ life without being called a bigot or a transphobe. Lawyers are still working on appealing my de-accreditation – for me it’s not just my Christian beliefs but the ability of people to have respectful debate about the “science” which is so often misleading.
James Shupe, former transgender and first person granted legal status of “nonbinary” reports “Trauma, hypersexuality owing to childhood sexual abuse, and autogynephilia are all supposed to be red flags for those involved in the medical arts of psychology, psychiatry, and physical medicine—yet nobody except for the one therapist in Pittsburgh ever tried to stop me from changing my sex. They just kept helping me to harm myself… The truth is that my sex change to nonbinary was a medical and scientific fraud… Two fake gender identities couldn’t hide the truth of my biological reality. There is no third gender or third sex. Like me, intersex people are either male or female. Their condition is the result of a disorder of sexual development, and they need help and compassion. I played my part in pushing forward this grand illusion. I’m not the victim here. My wife, daughter, and the American taxpayers are—they are the real victims.” (https://www.dailysignal.com/2019/03/10/i-was-americas-first-non-binary-person-it-was-all-a-sham/)
If those who believed they were transgender got it wrong – as we are seeing – then how can anyone possibly be sure they’ve got it right?
