On this week’s review show we are joined once again by Co-Editor in Chief of The Unshackled Sukith Fernando. Due to Australia’s poor internet connections Sukith’s audio is not a high quality for this episode.
We first analyze the results the of the 2016 Australian Census that was released last week. We comment on our concerns with the growth of Islam which is now the second most popular theist religion, we also reflect on the decline of Christianity and growth of Atheism, also the fact that there are more same sex couples. We also highlight that the Asian population has increased and that Pauline Hanson back in 1996 has been proved correct when she said we were being swamped by Asians. We express how dismay at how the Australian Bureau of Statistics promoted the results appearing to be happy with the demographic changes as these changes deserve closer reflection of what we want our nation to look like.
We also comment to on the continuing internal conflict in the Liberal Party with Tony Abbott continuing to speak out on what he sees as the leftward drift of the Liberal Party. We sympathize with conservatives who are still upset with how Abbott was dumped in 2015 but his actions now only help Bill Shorten become Prime Minister which would be a disaster for Australia. The Liberal Party still has many problems but punishing them in 2019 and hoping they get their act together for the election after is not the right strategy as they may not learn anything and we will all suffer.
We celebrate the impending departure of Yassmin Abdel-Magied from Australia to London. This was after her short lived comeback last week where she criticized Australia’s democracy and complained she didn’t have free speech. We state that we have no regrets about our constant criticism of her as her views deserved to be ridiculed. We hope that we can run more regressives out of Australia as we don’t want people here who constantly denigrate our nation and in Yassmin’s case criticize the nation that has provided her with more freedom than she would have in Sudan and the opportunity to be an engineer.
We also discuss Donald Trump continuing to trigger the United States mainstream media. They have now described him as mentally ill for his hilarious tweet about MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski. We point out that the media can dish it out but can’t take it, given all the fake news they have spread about Trump why shouldn’t he have a right of reply? We also dismiss suggestions he is inciting violence against journalists by tweeting a video of him from WWE fighting a CNN logo. Wrestling is a legitimate sport, meanwhile the media has actually incited actually violence and murder against Trump and his supporters with real life consequences.
