The Australian National Reopening Plan is still on track two weeks after the Omicron variant was discovered. Queensland, Tasmania, the NT will all open before Christmas. The TGA and ATAGI have approved Moderna as a booster vaccine and approved Pfizer for 5-11-year-olds to be rollout in January. Delta cases in NZ have dropped after the nation moved to the traffic light system, Jacinda lost her mask in Parliament so put on the used mask of her Deputy Grant Robertson while he was speaking.
Following on from nanny state covid response Jacinda’s Government now plans to ban any New Zealanders of the future from ever smoking cigarettes beginning with those who will turn 18 in 2025. In the Senate, Liberal David Van was accused by Greens Sarah Hanson Young of growling at Jacqui Lambie. Green Lidia Thrope said to Liberal Hollie Hughes ‘at least I kept my legs shut’ which Hughes interpreted as a slur against her autistic son.
The cases of individual cruelty of Australian states covid zero policies have been back in the spotlight this week. The Melbourne-based parents of a Perth rugby player who committed suicide were denied a travel exemption to bring home their son’s body. A Perth-based marketer has satirized the cult of WA Premier Mark McGowan released a fruit loop-based cereal called State Daddy-Os. The state government also announced a gender diversity mandate for the state’s construction industry who work on government projects.
In sports news, Australia has joined other western nations in participating in a diplomatic boycott of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games. The Communist Chinese Foreign Ministry has had a triggered response vowing ‘they will pay’. In media, news sacked Sky News Australia host Alan Jones is relaunching his weeknight show via streaming on social media direct to the people. In economic news inflation continues to see NZ house prices rise, supply chain issues could see Australia run short of beer and truck fuel very soon
