A round of Chinese Whispers occurred on social media with rumours of CCP coup against President Xi Jinping with the PLA placing him under house arrest. Flights and trains to and from Beijing being canceled had fuelled the rumours. The most likely explanation for Xi’s current absence is he is in quarantine after his summit in Uzbekistan as part of his continued covid zero policy.
