In the context of a media circus over the Trump administration’s separation of children from their illegal immigrant parents crossing the border, here is TIME Magazine’s cover for July 2, 2018. It’s been noted several times now how dishonest commentators and the media are being, with former Obama officials even tweeting images of detained children during Obama’s Presidency, mistakenly claiming they were taken this year.

Here’s another layer of fabrication to this narrative they’re building:

Newspapers and various other media outlets have shared the pictures among the outcry that has ensued which caused Trump to react by signing an executive order on Wednesday to curb child separation.

The implication of this cover is clear; Trump is not just an uncaring monster, he relishes in the suffering of immigrant children. The deep, consuming red adds a feeling of crisis. The media wants us to feel for the terror inflicted by Donald Trump on this little girl in a way that they never wanted us to feel for the immigrant children Obama’s administration placed with human traffickers.

But the little girl wasn’t separated from her mother, according to Border Patrol agents. Here is the original image:blank

And there is the mother, right next to her. You will see it appears to be late at night. As Border Patrol agent Carlos Ruiz explained in an interview with CBS; “We asked her to set the kid down in front of her, not away from her, she was right in front of her…So we can properly search the mother … So the kid immediately started crying as she set her down. I personally went up to the mother and asked her ‘Are you doing OK? Is the kid OK?’ and she said, ‘Yes. She’s tired and thirsty. It’s 11 o’clock at night.’”

Ruiz went on to clarify; “agents asked the mother, Sandra Sanchez, to put down her daughter, nearly 2-year-old Yanela, so they could search her. Agents patted down the mother for less than two minutes, and she immediately picked up her daughter, who then stopped crying.”

After the image became viral, the father even reached out to the media to correct the record on his daughter’s situation. As Reuters reports;

Sanchez and her daughter had left Puerto Cortes, a major Honduran port north of the capital city, Tegucigalpa, without telling Valera or the couple’s three other children, he said. He said he imagined that Sanchez left with the little girl for the United States, where she has family, in search of better economic opportunities.“If they are deported, that is OK as long as they do not leave the child without her mother,” Valera said. “I am waiting to see what happens with them.”

Honduran deputy foreign minister Nelly Jerez reportedly confirmed Valera’s version of events.

Not only was this child never separated from her mother, but the mother is falsely claiming asylum and took the daughter from her father without telling the rest of the family and abandoned her other three children. The image literally tells the opposite story to the one the media had intended to tell.

In an attempt to assure us all that President Trump has decimated America’s moral status on the world stage, leftist commentators and the media establishment have once again just confirmed why public trust in them is (and deserves to be) at historic lows.
