First Hillary Clinton, now Elizabeth Warren, paying female staff less than men

Today, as America marks Equal Pay Day, reports have revealed that Democrat senator Elizabeth Warren has paid her female staff 71c to the dollar in comparison to her male employees. The Equal Pay Day this year falls on the 4th of April, which supposedly symbolises how far into the following year women have to work in order to receive the same pay as men. For Warren’s staff, this would mean working more than ordinary American women as the gender pay gap for the senator’s office is 10 per cent wider than the national average of 79.6c to the dollar.

Ironically, it was Elizabeth Warren who tweeted ‘Equal Pay Day isn’t a national day of celebration. It’s a national day of embarrassment’. Well, one thing’s for sure. It’s definitely a day of embarrassment for Warren who not only supports a non-issue, but has made clear her hypocrisy in saying one thing on camera and doing the opposite behind the scenes. It leads one to question the integrity and purpose of left-wing politicians? They talk the talk, but they don’t seem to walk the walk. And the problem is, they don’t seem to care much about the talk either.

The Washington Free Beacon reported that the median annual income for Warren’s employees was more than $20 000 less than that of men, at $52 750. This was based on analysis of publicly available Senate data.

This isn’t the first time a progressive Democratic politician preached about the pay gap in public but failed to meet her own values in private. The famous Hillary Clinton, with her commitment to having stances in private different to those of her public sphere, had a gender pay gap as high as $112 680.84 in the Clinton Foundation. For a person who thinks closing the “wage gap” is “long overdue”, this is an embarrassing amount. In addition, it was already proven that Hillary Clinton paid her female staffers at the State Department 72c to the dollar compared to her male staffers.

Last year, Warren said “Today is Equal Pay Day, and by the sound of it, you would think it’s some sort of historic holiday commemorating the anniversary of a landmark day that our country guaranteed equal pay for women,” she said. “But that’s not what this is about. Not even close.” And funnily enough, Warren isn’t helping it either. Not even close. And that’s perfectly fine from our perspective, as we know the gender pay gap is a non-issue, a feminist distraction. But it makes clear the hypocrisy infecting left-wing politicians in this day and age.

The fact that the top five earning staffers in Warren’s office are men simply shows the gender pay gap for what it is: illegitimate. The fact that men are paid more than women should not come at a surprise. It’s simply how it is, and it’s the natural order. But the fact that a progressive Democrat, who pretends to fight with other feminists and college students to keep this non-issue alive, while spectacularly violating this feminist teaching behind the scenes, makes it even more clear why progressivism is regressive.
