The ABC’s 1975 Pedophile Broadcast Cover-Up
In 1975 the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s radio Lateline host Richard Neville interviewed three ‘Pederasts’ pedophiles who gloated about sex with boys. The broadcast quite rightly provoked outrage. The Reverend Fred Nile obtained a recording and referred it to the NSW Police Vice Dquad but nothing came of the investigation. But there were also hardly any consequences for the ABC or the host Richard Neville. The ABC chairman at the time Richard Downing defended the broadcast arguing : “In general, men will sleep with young boys and that’s the sort of thing the community ought to know about”.
The ABC Coverup
The ABC claimed for 50 years that the recording had been destroyed, probably to cover up its on-air glorifying of pedophilia. But economist John Adams managed to obtain the recording from the ABC archives, but had to sign a form stating that it was for personal use only. Due to its disturbing and scandalous content, John Adams wrote to Federal Communications Minister Anika Wells, requesting that the recording be released in the public interest. She wrote back and said she respected the independence of the ABC.
The ABC Legal Department sent John Adams two minutes before he published the recording a legal letter threatening injunctive action and seeking costs and damages for violating its copyright. YouTube removed the recording which the ABC claimed had been done at their request. You can view the broadcast if you can stomach it on John Adams’ X account.

The ABC told media news website Mumbrella that “It was a mistake by the ABC in 1975 to ever conduct this interview. The interview does not meet the ABC’s editorial policies and given the risk of harm to the community it would be inappropriate to republish it,” and may feed into perceptions and conspiracy theories that the country’s elite are corrupt and involved in covering up such issues over many decades.
The ABC Managing Director Hugh Marks was forced to issue a correction (but failed to apologise on behalf of the ABC for the tape) after the ABC misled a Senate committee in 2018 with the then Managing Director David Anderson telling Liberal Senator Eric Abetz the tape had been destroyed. Gerard Henderson, who runs the Sydney Institute and its Media Watch Dog was also misled by the ABC that the tape had been destroyed. It is unknown if 91-year-old Fred Nile still has his own copy as he is in poor health.
NSW Libertarian MLC John Ruddick raised the ABC Cover-up in NSW Parliament and also asked for the NSW Police to release the findings of their 1975 Vice Squad investigation
The ABC needs to call off the threats of legal action against John Adams for publishing a 1975 ABC Radio program entitled: 'Pederasty".

The ABC needs to apologise for the broadcast, apologise for platforming criminals, apologise for not referring the criminals to the police… pic.twitter.com/YuVHrxjrka
Who was Richard Neville?
The host Richard Neville had previously bragged about having sex with a 14 year old girl in his 1970 book Play Power. He already had a reputation for publishing obscene material in the 1960s with his Oz magazines in Australia and Britain. He was put on trial for obscenity in Britain for his School Kids issue of Oz where he invited teenagers to submit obscene material.
In the aftermath of the 1960s sexual revolution pedophiles tried to make their case for sex with children. They attempted to attach themselves to the gay and lesbian liberation movement. There was the Pedophile Information Exchange (PIE) in Britain and the North American Man Boy Love Association (NAMBLA) in the United States. We know now that Pedophilia took place at the BBC at the time. Thankfully these pro-pedophile activists failed in their goals.
Richard Neville’s life’s aim appeared to be to tear down as many of society’s morals as possible. After he died in 2016 he was lionised as a countercultural warrior, including by the ABC. He still had a successful media career after platforming pedophiles.
Australia’s History of Elite Pedophilia
Australia has its own sordid history of politicians and elites engaging in pedophilia. Much of this was exposed in the NSW Wood Royal Commission into Police Corruption. Wollongong Mayors Tony Bevan and Frank Arkell were involved in a pedophile ring that preyed on teenage boys along with other politicians and businessmen. Then there is the infamous suppressed list of 28 alleged VIP pedophiles which was last mentioned in the Federal Parliament by Liberal Senator Bill Heffernan.
Then there is former NSW Labor Iemma Government Minister Milton Orkopoulos who has been convicted of 56 child sex offences including supplying them with illicit drugs. His staffer Gillian Sneeden who cooperated with the NSW Police investigation was punished and blacklisted by NSW Labor for being a whistleblower.
Most recently there is the former NSW Liberal Government Minister and Member for Kiama Gareth Ward who has been convicted of one count of rape and three counts of indecent assault against two young men; he is currently awaiting sentencing. Former NSW Liberal MP for Pittwater Rory Amon is awaiting trial charged with raping a 13-year-old boy.
John Adams is promising to expose more government corruption and coverups in his new season of In the Interests of the People with fellow economist Martin North.
