Queensland Government Pushes Back on the Trans Agenda
It appears that Queensland is the only state pushing back against the trans agenda. Health Minister Tim Nicholls issued a new health order pausing puberty blockers and cross sex hormones for new patients under 18 in Queensland Hospitals after Supreme Court Justice Peter Callaghan declared his January directive unlawful. The directive was challenged by the mother of a transgender child, whom the Queensland LGBTI Legal Service represented.
The original directive was triggered by an internal review that found the Cairns Sexual Health Service gave puberty blockers to a 12-year-old without proper consultation. Those under 18 already on puberty blockers and cross sex hormones in the Queensland public health service were not affected. The pause did not apply to private healthcare providers. The pause on new patients under 18 will remain in place until a review into the evidence of providing hormone treatments and puberty blockers to adolescent trans patients is completed by Victoria’s former chief psychiatrist Professor Ruth Vine.
The Minister for Women Fiona Simpson said her government’s definition of a woman is an adult human female in response to a question by Robbie Katter. However the David Crisafulli-led Liberal National Government doesn’t have plans to roll back the state’s gender self-ID laws.
