The Black Lives Matter movement has now spread to Australia. Tens of thousands of Australians protested all over the country last week. Police greenlit the protests by allowing people to protest with impunity, despite previously enforcing strict rules such as a maximum of 20 people at a funeral. There were many Aboriginal flags present, but people also wore t-shirts with George Floyd on them and held up “I can't breathe” signs, referring to Floyd's last words. Protestors kneeled on the ground to show they were sorry for their white privilege and failing to address the supposedly rampant racism by whites towards blacks. There are many facts protesters choose to ignore when chanting Black Lives Matter. One of the most obvious ones is that black on white crime is double that of white on black crime in the U.S, despite blacks only making up 13% of the population and whites making up 62%. Black Lives Matter's Australian Angle. However, the hypocrisy and nonsensical nature of the BLM marches in Australia have a particularly confusing rhetoric, mainly the idea that Australia is inherently evil as a state, and any Australian accomplishments are achieved over the suffering of Aborigines. Broadly speaking, Aboriginal-rights activists in Australia have several things in mind when they protest. Generally, they fall into several themes – the horrors of colonization by English settlers, the Stolen Generations, systematic racism and high incarceration rates. In each case, whites are framed as sadistic psychopaths who derive pleasure from the misery of Aboriginals, going through painstaking efforts to ensure aboriginal poverty and mortality rates are as high as possible. Of course, not only is this untrue, it is so preposterous one could label it a conspiracy theory. Ancient Aboriginal Society. The claim that the colonization of Australia is at the root of the problems in the aboriginal community is false. While leftists are eager to paint pre-colonial Australia as a spiritual utopia filled with happiness and companionship, the reality was starkly different. Like many indigenous cultures, Aboriginal Australian culture consisted of much rape, incest, pedophilia, cannibalism, human sacrifice, infanticide and warfare. Encyclopedia Britannica states “Though many early accounts of cannibalism probably were exaggerated or in error, the practice prevailed until modern times in parts of West and Central Africa, Melanesia (especially Fiji), New Guinea, Australia, among the Maoris of New Zealand, in some of the islands of Polynesia, among tribes of Sumatra, and in various tribes of North and South America.” Infanticide was so well documented until recently one only needs to visit the infanticide Wikipedia page and scroll down to the “Australia” section. An article from 1937 shows a reverend in Western Australia offered “a baby bonus of an iron-roofed cottage” to be given "as a deterrent to the age-old custom of infanticide, and to increase the birth rate amongst the Worara and other tribes.” One historian stated roughly 30% of children in Aboriginal Australia were murdered. A study has shown roughly half of the 93 cultures in our region practised human sacrifice . Research indicates violence and rape against women by men also has a long-standing history in Aboriginal culture, with female skulls from 50,000 years ago showing disproportionate amounts of fractures and injuries caused by blunt objects. It is also noted by many historians and first-hand accounts by British settlers that rape and pedophilia were commonplace in Aboriginal culture, elders typically being entitled to the deflowering of underage girls. The unlimited authority by the husband in the family hierarchy allowed men to freely act on sexual or violent impulses without restraint. The idea that pre-colonized Australia had no intertribal conflict is also erroneous in that there was a great deal of warring, as noted by venerated historian Ted Strehlow. Despite being known for quotes like “There had been no kinder folk anywhere than the Australian natives,” even he admitted Aboriginal warfare was prevalent, and massacres of tribes by other tribes involved severe brutality. Regarding the 1875 Finke River massacre he said “the warriors turned their murderous attention to the women and older children, and either speared or clubbed them to death. Finally, according to the grim custom of warriors and avengers, they broke the limbs of the infants, leaving them to die 'natural deaths'.” British settlers aimed to reverse such brutality. Though a period of violence followed their arrival to Australia, the settlers implemented significant measures to counteract the brutality they saw among the natives. When attacked by Aboriginals, they struck back in self-defense, though many Europeans were murdered over the years following arrival. Some European men were convicted of senseless murder, though they were punished accordingly by the leaders of the colony, often through execution. Any claims by leftists regarding genocide lack evidence, and there was in fact much intermarriage taking place between the natives and the settlers. The Stolen Generations Myth. The so-called Stolen Generations was related to concerns for Aborginal children's well being. It was a requirement for those working at police stations to report children who were being neglected or abused so they could be removed from their unstable families. There was a concern the Aboriginal race was dying out and the children had no future, though the removal of children is often painted as a form of mass kidnapping. In the “Bringing Them Home” report that supposedly exposed policies of systematic racism, it is stated, “Not only were they removed for alleged neglect, they were removed to attend school in distant places, to receive medical treatment and to be adopted out at birth.” In other words, white Australians were willing to take on the societal problems of Aboriginal communities and offer better living situations. “Illegal” examples of child removal in the report are related to cases in which the child has not had contact with a parent for some time, and other examples are based on witness accounts that are referred to as “confidential evidence”, and the names of these witnesses are not revealed. Furthermore, these witnesses were not cross-examined. Similarly, the Australian government oversaw the removal of children from white abusive homes, though this is rarely mentioned as it diminishes the legitimacy of claims of racism against Aborigines. It is also worth noting the number of children taken from white families was around 250,000, whereas estimates for the “Stolen Generations” initially was “at least 100,000,” though more recently the number was said to be about roughly a quarter of that number. The high crime rates and drug and alcohol abuse among Aboriginal Australians are often blamed on what is termed “generational trauma,” which has supposedly come about as a result of the largely unfounded Stolen Generations claims. It has been stated by leftists there is a higher percentage of dysfunction in the lives of children who were taken away from abusive parents, though rather than attributing that to the abusive homes they came from or lack of positive parenting, leftists attribute it to the removal of the children from those homes. Therefore, the problems in the lives of children or grandchildren of Stolen Generations people are blamed on whites and their systematic racism. Current Remote Aboriginal Communities. The incredibly high numbers of rape and violence in remote Aboriginal communities are supposedly due to white racism also, even though they have been left alone from white influence except for when the police or child services arrive in their neighbourhoods. Somehow, persecution of Jews, Asians, Hispanics or Native Americans around the world has not resulted in such over-representation in criminality, and this theory only applies to blacks. Billions of dollars each year is spent on roughly 550,000 Aboriginal people, through medicare, child care, welfare and university programs. Yet the results have been insignificant to say the least. While only making up roughly 3% of Australia's population, Aboriginals are overrepresented in prisons and unemployment in the community remains high. Some blame lack of employment opportunities in remote areas, though moving closer to a city invariably increases employment rates. Interestingly, unemployment for non-Aborigines does not increase in remote areas. There is public housing available for Aborigines in more populated areas, but only a small portion choose to move, despite the fact the areas in which they live are overridden by drug and alcohol abuse or sexual crimes. More than half of the Aboriginal population state their main source of personal income to be a government pension or allowance paid for through the taxes of white Australians. The Real Aussie BLM. The Black Lives Matter protest in Australia is the representation of the antagonizing mentality the left has towards white Australians. They are under the impression that by holding signs and marching in major cities, they will force government leaders to take note and adjust their programs accordingly. What they fail to recognize is time after time, attempts to help Aborigines live safe and satisfying lives has failed. There has been a consistent effort by white Australians to help Aborigines through many avenues, though if anything, that effort has resulted in a form of enabling. By absolving Aborigines of all responsibility and acting as though white Australians are obligated to “fix” them, the problem only continues to get worse. The left actively encourages this by supporting the systematic racism theory, causing undue shame to whites and free reign for Aboriginal people to act without repercussion.
