Islamophobia Report Ignores the Victims of Islamism

Rundown

Eager to paint Muslims as the ultimate victim group in Western society, this week an organisation called the Islamic Sciences and Research Academy of Australia in association with the Diversity Council Australia and several leading Australian universities, released a report this week studying “Islamophobia” in Australia.

According to the Oxford dictionary Islamophobia is defined as a person having an “Intense dislike or fear of Islam, especially as a political force; hostility or prejudice towards Muslims”. To Muslims and Islamic apologists, they tend to define Islamophobes as people being critical of Islam for no reason, probably motivated by racism.

The report’s findings were championed by prominent Australian Muslim activists such as Susan Carland (Waleed Aly’s wife) who claimed that the report’s findings were timely given that some right-wing pranksters had just put up posters around Sydney making fun of her husband and Yassmin Abdel-Magied.

This report also claims that people critical of Islam are also sexist. The report studied specifically physical, verbal and online attacks they defined as being motivated by a person’s hostility to Islam. The authors of the report were eager to emphasize that 67.7 per cent of the “victims” were female and nearly three-quarters of “perpetrators” were male.

These statistics are emphasised because the writers of this report want to paint a picture that the real problem is angry white men, who are picking on women on colour for no reason. This report completely glosses over Islam’s own treatment of women and that is the aspect of Islam that critics of the religion are most concerned about.

This report would seem to agree that Islam is a religion of peace and agree with people such as Susan Carland and Yassmin Abdel-Miged that Islam is a feminist religion and white men are the real misogynists.

Never mind the fact that female genital mutilation in the Islamic community is rampant, forced marriages and child marriages are also a major Muslim problem, Muslim rape gangs have been roaming western nations, the religion endorses wife beating, gender segregation, women are considered lesser than men under sharia law and not to mention that Islamic women are forced to cover themselves up in a hijab or burqa otherwise they might be inviting a man to rape them.

It is because most Muslim women wear the hijab is most likely the reason that they are overrepresented in this report, because it makes them easily identifiable as Muslims, while Muslim men have much greater freedom to dress as they please and therefore are less identifiable as Muslims.

We of course condemn street harassment of ordinary Muslims, but again this report glosses over why Australians have such a hostility to Islam. The most prominent reason is of course the prevalence of Islamic terrorism in western society which over the past few years has killed hundreds of innocent people. The United Kingdom has had three major Islamic terror attacks this year. Australia has not been immune with the Lindt Café siege, the Curtis Cheng shooting as well as many other Islamist inspired attacks and terrorist plots foiled this decade.

Islam also does not have much of a tolerance for non-believers, as many Muslim majority countries around the world are governed by sharia law. The punishment for apostates is death and non-believers are forced to pay an Islamic tax to live amongst Muslims. Also, they tend not react well when their religion is insulted as the staff at Charlie Hebdo found out. Let’s also not forget that Islam does also not tolerate some of the left’s other favourite victim groups such as homosexuals.

The report does mention that there are Islamist terror attacks, but only so they can make the claim that these attacks result in the victimisation of Muslims. We should never forget the real victims of a greater Islamic presence in our society are those who are killed in the name of Islam and those persecuted because they do not toe the Islamist line. A few people harassed on the street is minor compared to death and torture.

Australians have a right to be concerned about the Islamization of their nation and should not be silenced by accusations of racism or sexism or because a few loudmouths express their dislike in a menacing way. I would suggest that people worried about so called “Islamophobia” should look at cleaning up the behaviour of Muslims themselves and not shoot the messenger, so to speak.
