The left in the United States was out to get Rosanne Barr after the successful relaunch of her 90s sitcom Roseanne on ABC America. They couldn’t stand the fact that a show where the lead characters were Trump supporters was popular with the American people.

What also added to the left’s outrage was Roseanne Barr was once one of them, running as the Presidential candidate for the Peace and Freedom Party in 2012. Their first effort to smear Barr was to allege she believed in the child trafficking conspiracy theories Pizzagate and #QAnon.

Now the left has got their wish as ABC America and it’s parent company Disney has cancelled Roseanne after Barr issued the following tweet attacking former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett in response to an article on a Wikileaks revelation about the Obama Administration.

Valerie Jarrett was born in Iran and is of African-American descent.

The tweet was quickly called vulgar and racist and within hours ABC America issued a statement which said: “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show”. Parent company Disney’s Chief Executive Bob Iger said: “There was only one thing to do here, and that was the right thing”.

Network Ten aired the show in Australia. Even though it had nothing to do with the show’s production it still decided to virtue signal and put out a statement of condemnation “Network Ten is appalled and disgusted with Ms Barr’s racist tweet and has removed Roseanne from TEN and ELEVEN, effective immediately”.

Barr herself apologized and deleted the tweet calling it a bad joke in bad taste.

But the backlash against her has continued with her talent agency ICM Partners dumping her. Other members of the Roseanne cast distanced themselves from Barr and pledged they wouldn’t work with her again, at the same time expressing sadness at the series cancellation.

Barr has continued to be active on her Twitter account and in clear sign she views the cancellation as unjustified has retweeted other commentators highlighting the times liberal celebrities were abusive but didn’t get the shows cancelled.

Many conservatives are angered that one of the few conservative shows on American television has now been cancelled in a matter of hours and the progressive agenda has once again triumphed.

The Conservative Women Facebook page put out a message of solidarity with Barr.

Did Roseanne Barr’s tweet cross the line and unforgivable? Or was it just a case of an overreaction to a bad joke and another case of double standards for people on the right? Would you like to see the second season of Roseanne be taken up by another television network given its rating success? Have your say in our poll below.
