Our Leaders Continue to Ignore Our Concerns on Immigration

Despite opinion polling showing that large portions of the voting public support a reduction in Immigration intake, our ‘leaders’ ignore them.

Immigration

When Essential Media released a poll three weeks ago stating 49% of Australians wanted a ban of Muslim immigration, you would think that our leaders would begin to review our current immigration policies.

Well, you’d be wrong. Our leaders demonstrated yesterday in Federal Parliament that they will continue to put their heads in the sand, sing of the virtues of multiculturalism and continue not to do anything that will upset opinions of elites and the media.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull moved an “equal rights” and racial tolerance motion in the House of Representatives stating that “As leaders our job is to explain the facts, reassure citizens and ensure that everything we do is calculated to keep Australians safe”. In other words he was saying to the Australian people you don’t know what you’re talking about, I the Prime Minister know better about this issue than you ignorant plebs.

Bill Shorten seconded the motion stating “there is no place in Australia for extremism, no matter the party” and “In Australia, we are not being ‘swamped’’’ dismissing anyone who is concerned about the threat to freedom from the Islamisation of Australia as a bigoted, racist extremist.

This motion was not just in response to the poll from three weeks ago. It was also the major parties reply to the election of and the maiden speech of Pauline Hanson when she stated Australia was being “swamped by Muslims” and warned of the dangers of “indiscriminate immigration and aggressive multiculturalism”.

Electoral Support for Immigration Reform

One Nation won nearly 600,000 votes in the last election, including 4 Senate seats. Polling for the next Queensland state election put the One Nation vote at 16%. Despite this, the concerns of voters of not just One Nation, but many other centre-right parties are being ignored.

Our leaders continue to maintain that the concerns of ordinary Australians to the growing Islamisation of Australia are based on irrational hysteria. That the fear has been whipped up by demagogues such as Hanson and her friends in the media and is not based on any real evidence.

This is an insult to the intelligence of the Australian people who should get to decide what their country looks like. We live in a democracy, our leaders are elected and should reflect the views and concerns of voters. Our leaders are not in power to rule over the people and act like a parent to govern their unruly children.

Australians are seeing the growing number of terrorist attacks in Australia and around the Western world, how violent crime and sexual assault is prevalent in the Islamic communities as well as basic disrespect for western values. These are not made up concerns, they are informed by actual events happening in the west.

It was only yesterday that we reported on a Clinton email, released by Wikileaks, where an unspecified sender, who some believe was Hillary herself, sent information demonstrating the disastrous consequences of accepting Muslim migrants.

The email contained a swathe of data and statistics sent directly to the Clinton campaign providing a glimpse of the desecration of Europe by migrants, especially in Germany. How did this come about? Leaders of those countries, instead of listening to the people, thought it wise and morally enriching to allow vast numbers of Islamic immigrants to enter their countries.

The seed has been sown. A vision of a multicultural utopia slowly gives way to an “ethnic war zone”. An indifference to the opinion of the citizens which one represents, as well as ignorance towards one’s own culture and heritage, has resulted in a major national crisis hardly covered by the mainstream media.

The Essential Media poll was not the only indication of the public’s concerns. A study from the Australian National University found that one third of Australians believe Muslim Australians should be subjected to more scrutiny from authorities. A Deakin Univeristy study found 60% of Australians would be concerned if a family member married a Muslim, that same study found 40% of Australians believe Muslims pose a threat to Australian society.

The leaders of both major political parties ignore these concerns of Australians at their peril. They cannot simply dismiss the issue of Muslim immigration and hope it goes away. We elected them, and now they reject us.

Consequences

There will be two consequences of our leaders refusing to act on the growing concerns of the Australian people. It will lead to more support for Pauline Hanson’s One Nation or other parties with similar values, not just more Senate seats but possibly House of Representatives electorates and seats in state parliaments. We have seen in the United States how Donald Trump is now on the cusp of being elected President with his signature policy being stopping Muslim immigration and building a border wall. In France Marine Le Pen is considered having a very good chance of being election President of France, along with Geert Wilders in the Netherlands.

The other consequence is that by continuing to allow immigration from Islamic countries the level of terrorist activity in Australia continues to grow and Australians continue to see their basic freedoms threatened by the spread of sharia law, increases in crime rates and the safety of women, people of other faiths and homosexuals is threatened. The second option would threaten Australia’s standing as a relatively safe first world country and possibly lead to the loss of life of many innocent Australians. This is not speculation, we are seeing it happen with the open borders policy of many European nations.

Yesterday’s resolution in parliament was an exercise in moral vanity by the leaders of both parties. They were not representing Australians in parliament they were disparaging them. It is clear that the Australian people need to make their voices heard louder on the issue of Muslim immigration, not just in the media and in public forums but at the ballot box as well. Immigration it seems is just another issue where the major parties have failed us.
