The main difference here is that in Hillary’s case there was so much real evidence outlining her corruption and incompetence, it was not necessary for the Russians to bring it to Trumps attention. Also there is little doubt that the Obama/Hillary camp were not prepared to have reasonable discussions with Russia, whereas Trump’s stand seemed to be more reasonable, so it would not be unlikely that the Russians would much prefer a Trump presidency than a Killary one even without collusion with Trump.
