The Australian Football League has earned a reputation over the past decade of being one of Australia’s most left wing cultural institutions. It started under the leadership of former Chief Executive Officer Andrew Demetriou and has continued under its current Chief Gillon McLachlan. They currently embrace every progressive social justice cause you could think of.

Last month it was the AFL’s commitment to the LGBT agenda with their embrace of IDAHOBIT (International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia) which saw footballers from all teams sign a petition in favour of so called marriage equality, which was also backed by the AFL Players Association.

This month the AFL has decided to show its support for the Islamisation of Australia during the Islamic holy period of Ramadan. The AFL held a special Ramadan dinner at the home of AFL at the Melbourne Cricket Ground attended by Islamic community leaders with a keynote address from CEO Gillon McLachlan. It is quite bizarre that the AFL goes from celebrating the LGBT agenda to celebrating the Islamic religion, given Islam’s current treatment of LGBT people around the world.

The fact that this Ramadan has turned out to be a period for Islamic terrorists to carry out constant attacks both in the West and around the world, it should encourage Australian organisations to rethink their relationship with the Islamic community. The Islamic Council of Victoria, from the same state where the AFL is headquartered has just claimed that the Brighton terror attack was not Islamic, and worried about the backlash to the Somali community instead of showing sympathy for the victims. They also want safe spaces for young Muslim radicals to let out all of their rage about infidels, paid for by the taxpayer to prevent more terror plots.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, once fully committed to the multicultural agenda will not have a second Iftar dinner with Islamic leaders, due to the current Islamic terror threats we face, along with the fact that last year he invited radical sheiks and was widely panned by conservatives for even holding the event (it was only a week after the Islamist Orlando nightclub attack).

But the AFL has still gone full steam ahead. The GWS Giants who are based in the Muslim enclaves of Western Sydney held their own Iftar dinner. It is interesting to note that they have held a special event for an Islamic holiday in the same year they have chosen to end the tradition of not having a match on the Christian holiday of Good Friday, which was done out of respect for the significance of the day in Australia’s Christian heritage.

The commitment of the AFL to Islam has been pushed by the sport’s most prominent Muslim player: Richmond’s Bachar Houli. In fact, the AFL through its multicultural program, holds the annual Bachar Houli Cup which is an AFL tournament for students in Years 9 & 10 attending Islamic schools (many of which have been accused of rorting taxpayer funds) in Western Sydney.

Bachar Houli has also founded his own AFL Academy to encourage more Muslim men to play AFL and be Muslim community leaders. He has previously demanded that football stadiums have Muslim prayer rooms to make them feel welcome at the football. It is frightening how just one Muslim player can convince the whole AFL to adopt the Islamisation of their sport.

It is worth noting that the AFL’s multicultural programs are sponsored by Australia Post which has a Muslim CEO Ahmed Fahour. This would imply he is abusing his position as CEO to advance the spread of Islam in Australia, which is especially disgraceful considering the fact that he’s head of a government-owned organization whose losses are covered by the taxpayer.

While we are not surprised by the leftist behaviour of the AFL, it is still saddening as it is abandoning its traditional supporters and their values to pursue the agenda of the new cultural elite. It also demonstrates that it is not just a nation’s government which affects our culture, but the nation’s most prominent institutions. The AFL, along with the mainstream media, community groups and academia are pushing the Islamisation of Australia even more than our government. It once again demonstrates that we the people need to push back against the spread of Islam in our nation to keep us safe and protect our values and freedoms.
