The woman who was set to become the first female president, defeating her unsavoury incumbent and taking the United States into a new progressive era has seen a big fall from where she once was. After hinting she would be interested in running again in 2020, Hillary Clinton and her Husband seem to be having trouble drumming up enthusiasm.
The tour named “An Evening with the Clintons” has a largely underwhelming start as only 3,300 people attended the 19,000-seat arena. And since the miserable beginning, things haven’t gotten any better. Even in very left-leaning cities such as Los Angeles, the tickets once priced between $177 and $325 US-Dollars have been selling so poorly that there has had to be a significant reduction in prices.
“On the official site, there were still seats for the tour available for up to $325, with other floor seats going for $83 plus a hefty service charge, but on Groupon, they can be picked up for as little as $35,” the Daily Mail reported. And since then, it seems prices have dropped on Groupon and can be picked up for as little as $5 USD.
Even Maureen Dowd, one of the United States’ best-known leftist columnists who in a recent article labelled Australia as misogynist and toxic, couldn’t help but notice the steep drop in interest for the Clintons. In a piece, she wrote the following: “I’m looking around Scotiabank Arena, the home of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and it’s a depressing sight. It’s two-for-the-price-of-one in half the arena. The hockey rink is half curtained off, but even with that, organizers are scrambling at the last minute to cordon off more sections behind thick black curtains, they say due to a lack of sales. I paid $177 weeks in advance. (I passed on the pricey meet-and-greet option.) On the day of the event, some unsold tickets are slashed to single digits…”
And that’s from one the Clinton’s biggest allies. Even the Clintons’ friends are openly cringing at the utter failure that was the “Evening with the Clintons” tour. Good luck with 2020, Hillary. If you can gin up the support from progressive Americans who are happy to spend $7 dollars daily but who can’t be sold a $5 dollar ticket to see you speak, you are a force of nature that will have to be reckoned with.
