The reboot of 90s sitcom Roseanne which tells the story of a white working class family the Conners has been a ratings success. But the fact that the Conners and lead actress Roseanne Barr are Trump supporters has enraged the left.

They can’t stand the fact that a pro-Trump TV show is proving to be a success. So far they have called for a boycott of Roseanne, but obviously that has not caught on. Their latest strategy to sabotage the Roseanne reboot is to allege that Roseanne Bart believes in the child sex trafficking conspiracy theories Pizzagate and #QAnon.

This all stems from a now deleted tweet from Roseanne Barr praising Trump’s actions in breaking up child trafficking rings “President Trump has freed so many children held in bondage to pimps all over this world. Hundreds each month. He has broken up trafficking rings in high places everywhere. notice that. I disagree on some things, but give him benefit of doubt-4 now”. Barr later retweeted endorsements of her praise of Trump which came from people and sources who have been promoting the Pizzagate and #QAnon theories.

We know about Pizzagate, the theory emerged after the 2016 Presidential Election that Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager John Podesta and brother Tony were running a child sex ring out of the basement of the Comet Ping Pong pizza restaurant in Washington D.C.

The theory stemmed from the Wikileaks Podesta emails where they were planning a Democratic fundraiser at Comet Ping Pong. However users on 4chan who analyzed the emails believed the word pizza to be out of place and believed it to be a code word for child sex. The theory peaked in the mainstream media when Edgar Maddison Welch shot up the Comet Ping Pong restaurant in an effort to self investigative the theory.

#QAnon is a relatively new conspiracy theory, again coming to prominence on 4chan where a user called Q posted a thread titled the “Calm Before the Storm”. Q claimed they were a high-level government insider with Q clearance whose job it is to post intel drops to inform the public about about Trump’s master plan to stage a countercoup against members of the deep state.

Q claims the Mueller investigation and the Russia conspiracy is a diversion tactic to an investigation into the Clintons, Obamas and other high level Democrats who are involved in the raping and killing of children and Trump is on the verge of inditing them all for these crimes. But the reality is at worst Barr can be accused of retweeting information she hasn’t verified, she did not endorse Pizzagate or #QAnon.

What Barr is most likely referring to is the more mainstream claim by Town Hall writer and sex-crime victims’ advocate and Liz Croki that the mainstream media is “ignoring Trump’s sex trafficking busts.” Croki claims “There have been a staggering 1,500-plus arrests in one short month; compare that to less than 400 sex trafficking-related arrests in 2014 according to the FBI”.

This information can at worst be described as inaccurate. Reason writer Elizabeth Nolan Brown wrote in February 2017 that the 2014 arrest statistics are incomplete and the 1,500 figure for 2017 involves arrests for consensual but illegal acts of adult prostitution.

Obviously leftists are hoping their portrayal of Roseanne Barr as believing in crackpot conspiracy theories will convince ABC network executives to cancel her show and discourage other networks from taking on pro-Trump projects. But given Barr’s tweet is only promoting inaccurate information, and given that she would not be the first celebrity to tweet inaccurate information it is hardly a sackable offense. Given that Barr deleted the tweet we should probably take that as an admission she did not want it to be interpreted as believing in these conspiracy theories.

The left probably feel especially betrayed by Barr because she was once of them. In 2012 she tried to seek the Green Party presidential nomination before eventually being the Peace and Freedom Party presidential nominee. Believing that Hillary Clinton was of poor character she backed her friend Donald Trump for the presidency in 2016.

Roseanne Barr reasons for supporting Trump, that he addressed the concerns of the white working class are sound, and because he talked about jobs was the reason people elected him is correct. Barr is no conspiracy theorist, that is fake news.
