Turkey’s Islamist dictator President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has responded to the fact the Christchurch mosque shooter was Australian to threaten Australians visiting Turkey with death if they are discovered to have anti-Islam views.

Erdogan was speaking at a campaign rally for upcoming local elections on March 31 in the northern Turkish town of Eregli. Eager to stoke nationalist and Islamist sentiment Erdogan played the video of the shooting as proof of rising hatred and prejudice against Islam.

Erdogan then took the extraordinary action of putting the Australia-Turkey post-World War One and ANZAC peacetime relationship in serious doubt. He reopened the two nations World War One hostilities asking “What business did you have here? We had no issues with you, why did you come all the way over here?” concluding “The only reason: we’re Muslim, and they’re Christian.”

Then alluding to the fact that thousands of Australians travel to Gallipoli in Turkey every year on ANZAC Day on April 25 warning that if they harbor anti-Muslim views threatening “Your grandparents came here … and they returned in caskets,” and “Have no doubt we will send you back like your grandfathers.”

The fact that the President of a current ally of Australia threatens our citizens with murder is a monstrous statement to make. But given Erdogan’s brutal crackdown on his own citizens and opponents of his regime it should not be too surprising.

Scott Morrison today responded to this direct threat from Erdogan by calling in the Turkish Ambassador Korhan Karakoç to Parliament House for a “frank exchange”.

Scott Morrison told the media at a press conference after “the comments were “highly offensive… and highly reckless in this very sensitive environment”, and that they “insult the memory of the Anzacs” and wanted Erdogan to withdraw them.

Reading the public mood in Australia that we are sick of being beaten around due to actions of the shooter Morrison said “I understand the deep offence Australians would be feeling about this. It is truly upsetting,” and “I have conveyed that in the strongest possible terms to the Turkish Ambassador today, and I do not accept the excuses that have been offered for those comments.”

With ANZAC Day just over a month away and with many Australians having already planned their annual pilgrimage to Gallipoli, Scott Morrison urged Australians to await further travel advice from the government before traveling to Turkey.

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten while also condemning Erdogan’s threats, only called them “Intemperate and regrettable remarks” that “only play into the hands of those who seek to divide,” and “They do not protect the peace and security of any nation”.

Erdogan’s threats should been seen as the end result’s of the left’s anti-Australian anti-white language post the Christchurch shooting. Those on the left could maybe take their own recent advice and realize that their anti-Australian diatribes have inspired a murderous dictator to call for violence against our peoples.

Many ordinary Australians have responded to Ergodan’s threats by calling for a boycott of Turkey and Turkish goods. Scott Morrison has said going forward that all options remain on the table in terms of diplomatic action.
