Armed Citizen Stops Mass Shooter; Story Fails to Make Front Page News

A man walked into a restaurant in Oklahoma and opened fire, wounding at least two patrons. Luckily an armed bystander with a pistol saw what happened and fatally shot the assailant, effectively hindering his capacity to do more harm. You’d think this would be front-page news considering the hot-topic issue mass shooting are nowadays, however it seems mainstream media outlets don’t believe this is worth covering, at least not on their front page.

CNN indeed has a story on the incident hidden away in the back pages of its website, as do MSNBC and the BBC. Anyone can do a Google Search and find these stories, but a scroll through the outlets’ apps and websites would not inform anyone without the knowledge to make a search in the first place.

Anti-gun advocates David Hogg and Emma Gonzales have been tweeting today about senators taking money from the NRA and voter registration, but as of yet there no mention on the most recent occurrence regarding the contentious debate they have put themselves in the centre of. Could it be that they won’t comment on an incident of gun violence that doesn’t match their narrative?

The identity of the man who shot the assailant is still unknown, but we all owe him a debt of gratitude.
