A Week of Man Hating – Part 3: Anti-Domestic Violence Campaigns

In Australia governments of all levels cater to the women’s lobby and feminists’ demands, particularly around the issue of domestic violence. We are told that any male behaviour which could make a woman uncomfortable for any reason is a gateway to domestic violence and sexual assault.

A manifestation of this is the insulting anti-domestic violence ads aired on television. It features situations where men are seen flirting, belittling or making a joke about women and that it is the role of real men to call it out, otherwise you are contributing to a culture of domestic violence against women, even if you or no man you know would ever physically harm a woman.

Many of these ads come from a government funded anti-domestic violence organization Our Watch. Their latest ad contains a man at a dinner party mocking the fact their new CEO at work is woman and they are too emotional to do such a job.

Men’s rights campaigner Bettina Arndt has drawn attention to these ads, and the fact that the anti-domestic violence industry is propped up by government funding. These groups deny the fact that domestic violence goes two ways, with both male and female perpetrators, ignores male victims and uses dubious statistics to advance their agenda.

Arndt has launched her own non-gendered anti-violence campaign End Violence Against Everybody.
