That would not work.  A letter from the Speaker of the House or the President of the Senate is not you applying to renunciate.  As with citizenship of the USA and most other countries the consul staff would want to interview you to make sure you&#039;re not coerced into giving up your citizenship.]]></description>

<p>That would not work.  A letter from the Speaker of the House or the President of the Senate is not you applying to renunciate.  As with citizenship of the USA and most other countries the consul staff would want to interview you to make sure you&#8217;re not coerced into giving up your citizenship.</p>

I don&#039;t know about that. I think if you formally and publically renounce your citizenship, then that would suffice.  Further backed up by an official letter from the Speaker or President of the Senate to any and all relevant foreign governments. Solve a lot of heart break.]]></description>

It&#039;s not just a matter of announcing you giving up foreign citizenship.  You normally have to apply to attend a foreign embassy or consulate and it&#039;s there you renunciate the permanent residency or citizenship of the relevant country. And in my case, I got a receipt for handing in my US Green Card.]]></description>

That way we are removing any doubt as to the loyalties of our sworn servants.]]></description>
