Greens friend Paddy Gibson

Greens MPs Jenny Leong and David Shoebridge invited Marxist extremist Paddy Gibson to NSW Parliament House after his release by police yesterday, sneaking the Sydney BLM organiser in via a back door.

The Greens MPs have been condemned by NSW One Nation leader Mark Latham for the action. Latham declared the invitation of the known revolutionary Trotskyist into the Parliament as “Irresponsible” and that the Greens as a party seem to believe that: “The rule of law doesn’t apply to them but they say they want to be elected to make the laws… They’re a very strange, irrational and illogical outfit.”

Gibson was arrested yesterday in Sydney’s Domain after attempting to hold a “Black Lives Matter” protest which had been banned by the NSW Supreme Court on public health grounds. The Unshackled has previously documented Mr Gibson’s lengthy record of Marxist activism and arrests at protests associated with said activism spanning the last fifteen years. The fact that two Greens members elected to an Australian parliament invited a man who believes that the Australian government should be overthrown and replaced with a totalitarian socialist state in the tradition of the early Soviet Union has predictably been ignored by most media commentators.

Padraic Gibson. Friend of the Greens and disgusting human being.

Mr Gibson spent this morning the day after his arrest gloating on Twitter and posting a celebration of the killing of Captain Cook by Mr Gibson’s supposed “Hawaiian comrades”. It’s worth pointing out that the Greens David Shoebridge was recently censured by the NSW Parliament for refusing to condemn a Greens staffer working in his office who vandalised a Captain Cook statue. Another Greens staffer Hayden Williams who was arrested for attacking a policewoman while he was burning an Australian flag in 2017 also worked for Shoebridge, as did yet another Greens staffer turned candidate Tom Raue. Raue is a self described Anarchist who three years ago was one of the main Greens activists involved in trying to branch stack extremists into the party via the “Left Renewal” faction, an act that helped precipitate a messy NSW Greens civil war. In December 2018 year allegations were made by then Greens MPs Cate Faehrmann and Justin Field that Shoebridge and his staffers were part of a plot to insert activists from the revolutionary Trotskyist group Solidarity into the NSW Greens. One of the longest term Solidarity activists and the co-editor of the Solidarity magazine is none other than Paddy Gibson.

Paddy Gibson squeals hysterically as NSW police gently lead him away.

It is of course hardly Mr Shoebridge’s first brush with left wing extremism. Back in 2012 the Greens upper house MP spoke at the conference of the Socialist Alliance (then the largest Marxist group in Australia). When The Australian newspaper called him out for associating with people who want to overthrow the government and implement “true” Communism he publicly posed with fellow Greens MPs John Kaye and Jamie Parker holding a Socialist Alliance banner. In 2011 and 2014 he contributed articles to the Socialist Alliance’s paper the Green Left Weekly and gave a speech to celebrate the opening of the new Socialist Alliance Sydney office in 2011.

In June of last year Shoebridge spoke at a rally in Sydney in defence of Socialist Alliance activist and convicted criminal Stephen Langford. Speaking alongside him at this event were Ian Rintoul who founded Solidarity back in the early 2000s. Shoebridge has a warm relationship with the Solidarity group and has acted as a featured speaker at their national conferences in 2017 and 2018. In January this year he spoke at a rally organised by another Trotskyist group Socialist Alternative alongside Greens Senator Mehreen Faruqi (a woman with a long list of extremist associations herself). He also marched alongside Solidarity activists just last month as they attempted to attack the statue of Captain Cook in Hyde Park.

Paddy Gibson probably should have kept his mask on here.

Yet if you only got your news from the mainstream media you would know none of this. Only Andrew Bolt on Sky News bothered to briefly point out the obvious and public extremist views of Paddy Gibson. If Mark Latham had snuck a neo-nazi into parliament for a quick coffee and a biscuit every media outlet in the country would be screaming for his head. Yet two elected Greens members invited a man who believes the Russian revolution was one of the best things to happen in history and that Australia is evil and should be destroyed into the parliament of Australia’s oldest state and barely a whimper. The reporter from the supposedly “right wing” news corp press Benedict Brooks practically applauded the Greens for inviting an advocate of the most murderous ideology in human history to be their guest.

If we can’t trust the media to tell us about the extremists who hate us, if we can’t even trust Australian journalists not to applaud people who want to abolish Australia, then this country is in serious trouble. If the Greens applaud and support the most politically extreme nutcases in our society then the public needs to know. Right now that isn’t happening, and that is a problem.
