Show Description
On this week’s review show we are joined once again by Co-Editor in Chief of The Unshackled Sukith Fernando. We start by reflecting on the 50th anniversary of the 1967 indigenous referendum which made indigenous Australians equal in our Constitution. We highlight that this should have been the end of the equality debate but ever since then we have seen indigenous Australians granted special privileges and have benefited from affirmative action programs. We demonstrate that this is always the case with the left that simple equality is never good enough, as we saw indigenous leaders reject proposed constitutional recognition and demand their own parliament and a special treaty.
We also discuss the controversy over Islamic schools in Australia, we start with Sukith giving a report about the protest organized by the Party for Freedom against an Islamic school being built in Penrith in Sydney. We highlight how taxpayer funds to Islamic schools have been rorted by Islamic societies to fund god only knows what, this is similar scam to what happens with halal certification. We stress that you cannot ban Islamic schools outright but can certainly monitor what they are teaching and local residents can object to Islamic schools or mosques being built in their area.
