On this week’s review show we are joined once again by Co-Editor in Chief of The Unshackled Sukith Fernando. It has been a few days after our Western Australian Election Livestream and there are now further results to interpret, especially the likely make up of the new upper house. We also highlight the factors that led to such a comprehensive Labor victory, reflect on the performance of One Nation, what the result means for the Liberal Party and how the right should move forward following this result.
We also preview the Dutch election occurring this week by looking at the way their politics is structured, the slow rise of nationalist candidate Geert Wilders to position where he could possibly form a minority government. We highlight the issues that have led to his rise such as the Netherlands problems with Islam and immigration which have been in full view this week with the actions the Turkish government have taken to have their citizens in Europe rally in favor of a referendum to expand President Erdoğan’s powers. We also discuss the implications the result will have for subsequent European elections later this year for the nationalist right wing movement over there.
