Show Description
Following the success of our single issue in focus show on Victoria’s African Youth Gang Crime Wave we decided to continue this format with a show dedicated to the latest US political developments. Joining us this week is the new Deputy Editor of The Unshackled and Host of Front and Center Emilio Garcia who during his trip in Mexico has been acting as our US correspondent.

The book Fire and Fury by Michael Wollf has caused a huge political firestorm, the mainstream media believe that its portrayal of Trump as having a childlike personality is grounds for invoking the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office. However this only book contains criticism of Trump that was already on the public record and it is full of factual errors and hearsay evidence from bitter ex-staff.

The book has brought down former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon who provided much of the material. He has had to resign as Executive Chairman of Breitbart News. Given that Breitbart rose to prominence by being one of the first websites to jump on the Trump train it was untenable for them to have on staff somebody who was sabotaging the Trump Administration. Bannon has been extremely naive to think that he could take on Trump and his base..

Hollywood held its Golden Globe Awards with celebrities wearing black to show solidarity with the #metoo movement. This was rank hypocrisy given that they had been covering up the sexual misconduct of people like Harvey Weinstein for years yet now want to lecture the rest of us about sexual harassment and respect for women.

The big talking point from the awards ceremony was Oprah Winfrey’s speech in accepting a lifetime achievement award where she reflected on seeing the first black man to win an Oscar and praised the #metoo movement. It has led to speculation she may run for President however we have no idea what her platform would be, she has her own set of baggage in that she was friends with Weinstein and her school in South Africa had sexual misconduct allegations against it.
