Show Description
With the Queensland election campaign in full swing The Unshackled is aiming to bring you as much coverage of the campaign as possible culminating with our election night livestream on Saturday 25th November. As part of our coverage we decided to speak with one of the candidates  Shan Ju Lin who is standing as independent for the seat Bundamba which is located in the city of Ipswich to Brisbane’s west.

She was originally announced as a One Nation candidate in December 2016 and much was made of the fact she would have been the first Asian candidate for the party. However, she was disendorsed in January this year after she made a post on Facebook about a gay couple who had been wrongly accused of child abuse which stated that gays should be treated as patients. Despite this setback she was encouraged by the support she received in her local community so she decided to still run in the election.

We discuss with her election platform, why she is standing and the issues in this campaign. We ask her about her experience and thoughts on One Nation. We look at her community work in the creation of World Harmony Day in her local area and how her political activity has affected it. We ask about her concerns the Chinese Communist Party and their activities within Australia.
