Trump Supporting Rosanne Reboot a Success. Trump Offers His Congratulations

The leftist virtue signalling and Trump derangement syndrome coming out of Hollywood and rest of the entertainment industry has grown tiresome, worst of all it’s not even entertaining. Many are nostalgic for how movies and television used to be.

At least some entertainment executives agree and there has been a trend of reviving old 90’s sitcoms as new ones are struggling to last more than one season. Will and Grace has had a successful revival after 11 years and a reboot of Murphy Brown a fictional current affairs host is also due to premier in the new American TV season.

Recently added to this list is Roseanne which ran for nine seasons during the 1990s starring comedian Roseanne Barr in the lead role. It was lauded for its realistic portrayal of a white working class family in Chicago, the Conners. It’s revival premiered on March 27 on ABC America saw 18.4 million viewers tune which is even more than its series finale in 1997 and has received a positive reception.

The main reason for Roseanne’s successful return is that it has continued its realistic portrayal of the white working class with the Conner family being Trump supporters. Roseanne Barr said about it on ABC’s 20/20 program “I’ve always attempted to portray a realistic portrait of the American people and the working class people. And, in fact, it was working class people who elected Trump”.

Rosanne Barr personally is a liberal and was the Peace and Freedom Party Presidential nominee in 2012 after failing to win the Green Party nomination. Nevertheless she is what is termed an old school liberal, she believes in free speech and open debate and can still be friends with conservatives and does not view them as evil and stupid.

Barr was also objective enough to view Hillary Clinton has a poor nominee for the Democratic Party in 2016 and is especially critical of Clinton Foundation’s conduct in Haiti following the 2010 earthquake. She commented that Trump won because “He talked about jobs. That’s what you need to do if you want working people to vote for you. Not Syrian airspace”.

The sitcom also explores the divisions that have emerged between family and friends because of the 2016 election and in an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live Barr said about the nation  “Just chill. Try to think positive for why people wanted a change”. Barr also called upon people to hope Trump succeeds “It’s up to us to make this government work, no matter who is president. It’s up to us to do our jobs are citizens”.

Trump himself who is constantly denigrated by the entertainment industry and consistently faces a hostile media was so refreshed by the Roseanne premier he phoned Roseanne Barr personally to offer his congratulations on the show’s return and ratings.

Barr said on Good Morning America of the phone call “It was pretty exciting, I’ll tell you that much,” and said of the conversation “We talked about a lot of things. He’s just happy for me,” and that “I’ve known him for many years and he’s done a lot of nice things for me over the years, and so it was just a friendly conversation about working and television and ratings”.

Certainly the modern left run by the social justice warriors and the rest of the entertainment industry could learn a lot from a stateswoman such as Roseanne Barr. Based on its ratings and more importantly its positive reception it looks as if Roseanne’s return is here to stay with a second season expected to be confirmed. Comedy and entertainment might not be dead yet.
