Sky News Suspends Adam Giles Show as Meltdown Continues. Blair Cottrell Responds

Sky News Australia is continuing with its own internal meltdown after it decided to capitulate to online social media outrage after it aired an interview at 6pm on Sunday night on the Adam Giles show with patriot activist Blair Cottrell. Despite Cottrell saying nothing inflammatory in the interview and it being well received by the Sky audience at 9.44pm the news director at Sky tweeted they were wrong for interviewing him and pulled all videos of it from their social media.

But it was not just the usual leftist media commentators and politicians who expressed the displeasure at Cottrell’s appearance but what probably tipped Sky over the edge was the public condemnation from a number of its on air personalities such as David Speers, Laura Jayes, Caroline Marcus, Janine Perrett and probably most remarkably Andrew Bolt. Former Labor Minister Craig Emerson who had been an on-air contributor for a number of years announced he had resigned.

Laura Jayes dedicated a segment of her NewsDay show on Monday to condemning Cottrell calling him a thug, bully, misogynist and a fascist. She brought in her regular contributor National Political Editor of the Herald Sun James Campbell to join in on the condemnation and while they were at it decided to condemn Lauren Southern and Tommy Robinson and the media for giving them press coverage.

Craig Emerson appeared on ABC’s the Drum last night to claim that continuing to appear on Sky News would be an insult to his father who fought the Nazis in World War Two. The host of that night’s program Ellen Fanning interviewed outgoing Race Discrimination Commissioner Tim Soutphommasane who claimed there has never been a more exciting time to be a dog whistling politician or a race baiting media personality. The subsequent panel discussion was about what the limits are to free speech.

Later in the day the CEO of Australian News Channel Angelos Frangopoulos which operates Sky News on behalf of News Corp Australia stated the Blair Cottrell would never appear on the network again and that it was having a review of its editorial standards and that the Adam Giles show would be in recess while this review is taking place.

The man who interview Cottrell former Chief Minister of the Northern Territory Adam Giles has not made a statement in response and his last tweet was a link to a Graham Richardson column on the Prime Minister’s inadequate response to the current New South Wales drought.

Most of the condemnation of Cottrell has not been because of what he said on Sky News but because of his criminal convictions for arson and stalking which he spent jail time for and statements attributed to him supporting Adolf Hitler.

Cottrell responded to the controversy over his appearance with a video posted to his Facebook page where he states that his performance was well received by the Sky producers immediately after his segment and they mentioned he could become a regular contributor.

He was scathing of Sky’s pandering to what he described as a bunch of twitter bots posting slander and abuse when the reaction from the people who actually watched Sky was positive. He also attacked the condemnation he received from so called conservative commentators. He concluded this was another sign that the mainstream corporate media is not in tune with what Australians are thinking.

He also addressed for the first time on video the comments attributed to him supporting Adolf Hitler which follow him wherever he goes. He said the statements were made by a fake account which is still active yet Facebook has refused to take down. He believes he is labelled a Nazi because the political establishment are scared of him. He finished the video by again promoting the Lads Society describing it as the real resistance.

An hour later Cottrell appeared on XYZ Live with Editor David Hiscox and their video producer Matty Rose to discuss the reaction to his Sky appearance and for a discussion about multiculturalism and immigration. Unlike a presenter at Sky the XYZ staff cannot sack themselves.

Earlier this year Seven News experienced the same backlash to airing a story on African crime where they interviewed Cottrell. Given that Sky News has now banned Cottrell from future appearances and shafted the presenter who interviewed him it is clear that the whole Australian mainstream media has decided to blacklist Cottrell.
