Donald Trump has announced that the United States will withdraw from the Iran Nuclear deal, attracting both praise and criticism from many on both sides of the political spectrum. In a statement to the press, Donald Trump laid out his reasons for leaving the deal, citing Iran’s history of funding terrorism, its interest in an unstable middle east, and the documents uncovered by Israel.
While many are praising Donald Trump’s move to leave the agreement, others are concerned by its ramifications. While large amounts of money were returned to the Iranian regime in addition to sanctions being lifted, the agreement allowed a well-known state-sponsor of terrorism to continue to enrich uranium and pursue a nuclear weapon. On the other hand, however, without a proper deal in place, many fear that Iran will now be free to act on its own volition with little international oversight or restrictions.
