In western nations today, we are facing many threats to our way of life. These include threats to our free speech, our cultural institutions, our borders, our safety and even commemorating our own history. Most of this is facilitated by our politically correct governments who listen more to the mainstream media and cultural elites than the ordinary people who elected them.

But there is one group which pushes this far-left anti-freedom agenda on a street level. That is Antifa which is short for anti-fascists. Whenever a nationalist, conservative or libertarian group wants to hold either a public or private event promoting their views Antifa or a similarly ideologically aligned group attempt to shut it down through threatening the organisers or violently attacking attendees. Even though they call themselves anti-fascists they engage in fascist style standover tactics.

They have been most active in the United States city of Berkeley with their attempts to shut down speaking events by conservative commentators at that city’s University of California Campus. Locally Antifa aligned groups have also staged counter protests at every event in Melbourne organist by Australian patriot groups accusing them of all being Nazis and racists. These demonstrations would turn violent if not for the police restraining them and protecting the peaceful patriots.

Some governments in the west have taken action with the state of New Jersey listing Antifa as a terrorist organisation. Following the attack on Andrew Bolt at a Melbourne book launch there was a petition by right wing Facebook personality Avi Yemini to have our federal government declare Antifa a terrorist organisation.

It is certainly not a stretch to call them a terror organisation as just like Islamists they use violence to further their political agenda. They want to complete remake our society in their far-left ideas where there no borders, no genders, no families, no religion and no free will. The violence they engage in on the street does have the effect of deterring many people who may support a right wing or nationalist agenda from expressing it, from fear of assault and even fear of some leftists getting them fired from their job by accusing them of being a Nazi.

Despite Antifa’s totalitarian agenda there are still mainstream institutions willing to give them a platform. One such institution that has is Melbourne University Press which has just published ‘Antifa: The anti-fascist handbook’ by former Occupy Wall Street organizer and anarchist historian Mark Bray.

Antifa is nobly described as emerging to fight back against a resurgent far-right “the Antifa movement has suddenly burst into the headlines amid opposition to the Trump administration, the rise of the alt-right, and the resurgence of white supremacist groups such as the Ku Klux Klan”. The book boasts of “interviews with anti-fascists from around the world, the tactics of the movement and the philosophy behind it, offering insight into the growing but little-understood resistance fighting back against the alt-right”.

In an interview with the leftist American website New Republic Bray excuses Antifa violence stating that it “is really usually a last resort, when other methods have failed, to disrupt these groups. It’s a small percentage of what is done”. The other excuses he makes for Antifa’s tactics is the tired old line “both historically and in the present day the threat of organized fascism and white supremacy is significant” and that “the police cannot be counted on consistently to stop fascists”

Of course, anyone is free to write and publish about the history of the so called anti-fascist movement, just as anyone is free to write about the history of radical Islam. Even people who deplore Antifa would still be interested to learn about the history of the movement.

But it is clear from the press materials related to this book and of course the words of its author that it is a publication designed to glorifying and legitimatize one of the greatest threats to the safety of citizens in the west. It is designed to perpetuate the media myth that Antifa follows in the footsteps of noble historical anti-fascist movements in standing up to all these Nazis and racists that are now suddenly emerging all over the world.

One wonders if Melbourne University Press would commission the publication of a book chronicling a non-cartoonish version of the Australian patriot movement and some of its noble achievements? I won’t hold my breath. Although it has published right wing and conservative books in the past (including Tony Abbott’s Battlelines), if you take a look at its most recent publications it demonstrates it has taken a lurch to the left.

What the publication of this book means for people like us who have been the victims of Antifa’s reign of terror at various times is that we need to keep exposing the truth about this movement and make our voices heard even louder. The mainstream media won’t do it, the politicians won’t do it but enough people see who is now ruling our streets then this domestic terrorism in our nations might finally come to an end.
